Paducah businessman and longtime city commissioner PJ Grumley died at Superior Care Home on Thursday, April 7. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Everett Grumley and Esther Nora Dowers Grumley Gragg, and his sister, Betty Joann Grumley Bizzy. Mr. Grumley is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ruth Grumley; four children: Paul James Grumley and wife, Juliette of Paducah; Janice Grumley Bell and husband, Charles of Ennis, Texas; Linda Grumley DuFour of Louisville; Nora Grumley Cope and husband, Mark of Paducah; nephew, Jeff Everett Grumley and wife Therese of Rockford, Illinois; 13 grandchildren: Bryan Grumley (Courtney), Louisville; Miller Grumley (Laura), Paducah; Charlotte Grumley Orlando (Mike), Herndon, VA; Thomas Grumley, Nashville, TN; James Bell (Crystal), Ennis, TX; Jack DuFour (Alley), Louisville; Paul DuFour, Louisville; Anna DuFour, Louisville; Renee DuFour, Louisville; Chris Farley (Amanda), Paducah; Russell Farley (Sarah), Cordova, TN; Kevin Cope (Leslee), Kevil; Amanda Cope Patterson (Austin), Lone Oak; 8 great-grandchildren: Sarah Bell, Ennis, TX; Faith and Avery Grumley, Louisville; Max and Caroline Grumley, Paducah; Ellie Farley, Paducah; Juliette Orlando, Herndon, VA; Holman Cope, Kevil; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The funeral took place on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastors Corey Aker and David Appold officiating. Interment followed at Maplelawn Cemetery. Dennis Joseph Nunan, III, 64, of Paducah, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Dennis was born in Jackson, TN on October 17, 1951 to the late Dennis Joseph Nunan, Jr. and Hermance Donnelly Nunan. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a former director for Mercy Regional EMS and was a pharmacy technician at Lourdes Hospital Pharmacy and Corner Home Care in Princeton, KY. He enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and their friends. Surviving are his grandchildren, Sabrina Elizabeth Nunan of Paducah and Kayven Joseph Nunan of Kevil; and three sisters, Sara G. Nunan Gough and husband Lynn of Bowling Green, Mary K. Nunan Guidi and husband Larry of Oakland, TN, and Anne H. Nunan Maroney and husband Frank of Great Falls, MT. Preceding him in death were his wife, Cynthia DePucchio Nunan; two sons, Dennis Joseph Nunan IV and Damian Vincent Nunan; and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Dennis J. Nunan, Sr. and Dr. & Mrs. Arthur Donnelly, Sr. A memorial visitation was held Saturday, April 9th from 4-6pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Jeanne Kitt, 46, of Barlow died Thursday, April 7, 2016, in La Center. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul Kitt; her father, Earnest Kissiar of Sedalia; her mother, Alice Kissiar of Wickliffe; two sons, Paul Alexander Kitt and Jonathon Kitt, both of Barlow; two brothers, Earnest Lynn Kissiar and David Michael Kissiar, both of Wickliffe; two sisters, Linda Cathleen Kissiar of West Paducah and Margaret Schissler of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Monday, April 11, 2016, at Morrow Funeral Chapel of La Center. The Rev. Junior Bellamy officiated. Interment followed services at Berkley Cemetery in Carlisle County.
Sonny Abernathy, age 70, died in La Center, Kentucky, at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was a member of Oscar Baptist Church. Sonny loved to fish, hunt and garden. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. Sonny is survived by his wife, Cheryl Abernathy of Kevil, Kentucky; two sons, Steven H. Abernathy and his wife, Amy of Bandana, Kentucky, and Jason Costa of Kevil, Kentucky; one daughter, Carol Ann Miller and her husband, Todd of Bandana, Kentucky; three brothers, Floyd Abernathy of Gage, Kentucky, Louis Abernathy of Manhattan, Kansas, and Lynn Abernathy of La Center, Kentucky; three sisters, Barbara Scott of La Center, Kentucky, Rosie Turner of La Center, and Emma Brand of La Center, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Sonny Lane, Melody Joe, Hunter, Gunner, Koty, Cole, Lilly and Devin; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elva and Alvia Abernathy; two brothers; and one sister. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 9, 2016, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center, Kentucky, with the Rev. Ryan Baker officiating.
