Marianne Hyde, 45, of Vienna died at 11:03 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Arrangements were incomplete at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.

Funeral Mass for Jewel M. Morgan, 93, of Cairo was held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Chris Mujule officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mounds. She was the office manager for Central Wholesale Liquor Co. in Cairo before her retirement and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cairo. She is survived by one son, Larry Morgan; two granddaughters, Missy Morgan and Lisa Morgan; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Morgan; one grandson; one brother; and one sister. Her parents were Orville and Wilhelmina Cahill Childers. Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements

Charles O. Wells, 79, of Metropolis died at 1 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, with military rites at Lutheran Church of the Cross with the Rev. David Deem officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at the church. Arrangements were incomplete at Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.

Lucinda Ruth Smock, age 63, of Brookport, Ill., passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the Aikins-Farmer Brookport Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tim Pearcy and B.J. Lampley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pell Cemetery. Lucinda was a member of the First Christian Church in Brookport and an RN at Western Baptist for 30 years. Lucinda is survived by her husband, Harley “Buddy” Smock of Brookport; son, Richard W. Sparks of Brookport; granddaughter, Hali Ann Sparks of Draffenville, Ky.; two brothers, Jimmy Nix and wife Barbara, and Bobby Nix and wife Cheryl, both of Brookport; cousin, Georgeann Ludwig of Bonneville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Ikie” and Ruby (Phillips) Nix; her grandparents, Robert C. and Ruth Nix and Albert and Verbie Phillips. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Project Hope, P.O. Billy Joe Chessor, 72, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home. He had worked as an installer for Western Electric, AT&T, Schwan’s warehouse, the Lisn, and Xtel Phone Companies, Hedrick Concrete and had owned Charleston Bakery & Country Florist. He was a member of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Fassea; five sons, Ted Chessor of Franklin, Tenn., David Chessor of Evansville, Ind., Doug Chessor of Paducah, Steve Chessor of Thompson Station, Tenn., and Ben Chessor of Sikeston; one daughter, Jennifer Rushing of Paducah; one brother, Barry Chessor of Sikeston; four sisters, Bonnie Heckert, Beverly Russell, and Lynn Greenlee, all of Sikeston, and Barbara Porter of Anderson, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His parents were William Whitfield and Colleen (Eiceman) Chessor. Services were held Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Ponder Funeral Home. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Memorial donations may be sent to: The Melvin Weinstein Parkinson’s Foundation, 1340-1272 N. Gerald Barnes, 70, of Olmsted died at 11:37 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Land Mark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mr. Barnes was a retired custom molder for Americule Inc. in Longmont, Colo., and was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Susan Rausch Barnes; one son, Richard Barnes of Karnak; four daughters, Mona Masters of Livingston, Tenn., Gerrianne Meece of Somerset, Ky., Tracey Parker of Grand Chain and Loreyanne Reagan of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, James Barnes of Olmsted; one sister, Mary Hannan of Olmsted; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers. His parents were Hal and Hilda Eiselmeyer Barnes. Services were held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Olmsted with the Rev. Paul Donner officiating. Burial follwed in Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted.

Dorothy Mae Reineking, age 90, of Brookport, Ill., passed away at 1:37 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the Aikins-Farmer Brookport Chapel.  Rev. Larry Call will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery. Dorothy was a member of the Brookport First Christian Church and employed with the Brookport School System before retirement. She was referred to as the “popcorn lady” by the children in Brookport, because of her famous popcorn balls she passed out on Halloween. Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Donna Land and husband Dick of Brookport; one son, Edward Ray Pearcy Jr. and wife Glenda of Mazon, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Eula (Harton) Gilbert; her husband, Bobbie Reineking; one daughter, Rosalee Pearcy; an infant son; one brother, and one sister. Friends may call at the Aikins-Farmer Brookport Chapel from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.
