Reba Rebecca Laura Sophia Wiedeman, 85, of Metropolis passed away at 6:22 A.M. Sunday, February 02, 2014, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating. Ms. Wiedeman attended Powers Methodist Church. Reba is survived by her son, Roger Wiedeman of Metropolis; 2 grandsons, Sean Spencer Wiedeman of Metropolis and Franklin Benard Wiedeman and wife Shannon of Covington, TN.; 1 great-grandson, Kade Sean Wiedeman of Covington, TN.; 2 sisters, Ruth Buddenbaum and June Parker, both of Metropolis. She was preceded by her parents, Joe and Anna (Hosfelt) Wieneke; and one brother, Cecil Wieneke. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to meet at the graveside. William Ray "Billie" Powell, 68, of Metropolis died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at his home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, in the Kirkendall Cemetery in Massac County. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery. Wilma Heflin, 78, of Metropolis went to be with the lord on Saturday, February 1st, 2014, at her residence with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Brenda Rust officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Heflin was of the Pentecostal faith. Wilma is survived by her husband of 11 years, Leonard Heflin of Metropolis; 7 children, Patsy Griffith of Paducah, KY., Marilyn Kasmatka of Northwest Indiana, Rebecca Contractor and companion Bridget Matherne of Metropolis, Rhonda Sullivan of Metropolis, Nick Heflin and wife Connie of Alabama, Jeff Heflin of Metropolis, and Steve Heflin of Nashville, TN.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Beverly Herter, Mary Smith, and Faye; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Cordeleia (Bogges) Cole; 1st husband, Sammy Mounce; 1 infant daughter, Rosemary Mounce; 1 sister, Hazel Conley; 2 brothers, James Cole and Nathaniel Cole; numerous other family and friends.

A C Parker, 92, formerly of Wickliffe, died at his residence in Lakeland, Florida, January 30, 2014, at 7:44 p.m. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a riverboat captain. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Bowland and husband Don of Springfield, Tenn,; and son, Eddy Parker and wife Nancy of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn O'Conner Parker; his parents, Tona Parker and Caroline Cowan Bennett; his daughter, Jayne Roberts; and two sisters. Services will be Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with the Rev. Lynn Releford officiating. Burial will follow in Wickliffe City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, and Sunday, February 9, 2014, until service time. Paul David Norris, 64, of Cairo died Friday morning, January 31, 2014, at his home. Mr. Norris is survived by 10 brothers, Henry Norris of Vancouver, Wash., James Norris of Buena Vista, Ark., Ernest Norris of Anna, Lloyd Norris of Cairo, Richard Norris of Indianapolis, William Whitaker of Barlow, Ky., Charles Whitaker of Herrin, Clayton Whitaker of Cairo, Donnie Whitaker of Jackson, Mo., and Robert Whitaker; four sisters, Sharon Rocket of Salem, Frances Busby of La Center, Ky., Sharon Whitaker of Herrin and Martha Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by one sister. His parents were Henry P. and Addie Mae Bettis Norris. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Chester Clay Nelson, 92, of St. Albans, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2014, at New Haven Assisted Living in Kevil, Ky., where he had been residing to be close to his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Adeline Marie Nelson, and together they led an exemplary Christian life. He was also preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Anna Nelson; his brothers Opie Lee and Charles; sisters Reva Stowers, Sylvia Hall, Golda Yeager, Opal Hodge, Helen McGhee and Rose Dent. Chester is survived by his daughter, Dreama Deardorff and husband Robert Deardorff of Kevil, Ky.; grandsons, Robert Nelson Deardorff of Newburgh, Ind., David Lee Deardorff of Madisonville, Ky., and Andrew Stephen Deardorff and wife Karey of Madisonville, Ky.; great-grandchildren Claire Alexandra Deardorff, Carli Nelson Deardorff and Colden Clay Deardorff of Newburgh, Ind. Chester had close relationships with nephew Thomas Dent of Beaver, Ohio, nieces Virginia Nelson Mobley of St. Albans and Doris Roberts of Hurricane, W.Va., as well as numerous other nephews and nieces. As a young man Chester worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps. During the early years of WWII he worked for the Martin Company at the Baltimore, Md. plant as a machinist working on production of the B26 aircraft for the war effort. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS Yosemite in the South Pacific during the remainder of WWII. Chester retired from Union Carbide after 36 years of service, was a member of the WV American Legion Post 73 in St. Albans. A faithful Christian, he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served both as a deacon and trustee over the course of 50 years. Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, February 4,. by his pastor Duane Defoe in the Chapman Funeral Chapel. Interment was at the Nelson Cemetery in Griffithsville, W.Va.. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Chester's compassionate caregivers from Lourdes Hospice of Paducah and to the loving staff of New Haven Assisted Living in Kevil, Ky., where he resided the final two years of his life. Patsy Jean Shirley Bryant, 80, of La Center, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, at 10:32 p.m. at Life Care Center of La Center. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, George Lamar Bryant, of La Center and sister Helen Louise Bryant of Carnesville, Georgia. She is survived by son, Warren Bryant and his wife Belinda of La Center; daughter, Gwen Meriwether and her husband Ted of La Center; daughter, Sybil Slusmeyer and her husband Jeff of Paducah; daughter, Nancy Davis and her husband Kevin of Kevil; son, Bruce Bryant of La Center; sister, Ruby Mercier of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Mary Ann Griffin of Stockbridge, Georgia and Ruth Vince of Sandy Hook, Mississippi. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Scott Bryant of Winchester; Shirley Meriwether Adams of Wingo, Nicole Slusmeyer Overby of Nashville, Doug Meriwether of Lexington, Stefani Meriwether of West Paducah, Paige Bryant Crumpler of Shepherdsville, Chris Bryant of Murray, Candace Bryant of Nashville, Josh Bryant of Evansville, and Abby Slusmeyer of Paducah. She is survived by two great-grandchildren, Tyler Adams of Wingo and Conley Williams III of West Paducah. She was a member of Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and secretary. She volunteered at Western Baptist Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years. She was an Avon Representative for over 30 years. Visitation was on Monday, February 3, with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at Milburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in West Paducah. Burial followed at La Center Gardens in La Center. Services were officiated by Brother Doug Hughes. Morrow Funeral Chapel of La Center is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Lee Myatt, 86, died Thursday afternoon at Baptist Health Paducah. He was born June, 7, 1927, to Gilbert Myatt and Mary Elizabeth Bryant Myatt Tanner. He worked construction for many years, was a member of the Barlow Police Department for 35 years, served as Ballard County Deputy Sheriff, was a veteran of the United States Navy and belonged to Wickliffe Masonic Lodge #625. He was also a member of Barlow Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Ricky Myatt of Barlow and Jerry Myatt (Connie) of Kevil; one daughter, Connie Dalton (Tommy) of Barlow; one sister, Lois Moxness of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Lynn Myatt (Lisa) of Kevil, Greg Myatt (Monica Ingram) of Oscar and Zach and Jacob Dalton, both of Barlow; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Lane and Rowen Myatt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ellis Myatt, and his parents, Gilbert Myatt and Mary Myatt Tanner. Visitation for Harold Lee Myatt was held Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday before the service from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel of La Center.
