Linda K. (Clarke) Jackson, 52, of Cairo died at 7:54 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her parents' home near Olive Branch. She served on the Alexander-Cairo Port District Board, had served on the Cairo City Council, and worked as a teller at First National Bank in Cairo. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Willis D. Jackson; two sons, Alex D. Jackson and Jacob R. Jackson, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters, Sally Ann Palen of Cape Girardeau and Mary Candace Keates of Pequea, Pa.; two brothers, Honorable Mark H. Clarke of Mounds and John A. "Andy" Clarke of Olive Branch; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one infant brother. Her parents were Peter J. and Sarah Jane (Travers) Clarke. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo with the Rev. Chris Mujule officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mounds. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the church, where rosary services will be at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Linda K. Clarke Jackson Hometown Pride Scholarship (Southeast Missouri State University Foundation). Envelopes will be available at the church and at the funeral home.
Dwayne Case, 53, of Wickliffe died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He worked as a farm manager for Middle Tennessee State University and was assistant manager for Walmart in Paris, Tenn. He is survived by his father, Paul Case of Wickliffe; two brothers, Daryl Case of Wickliffe and Darin Case of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; and a niece, Abigail Case of Olive Branch, Miss. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Pace Case. Services were held at 1:00 on March 6, 2014, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with the Rev. Billy Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ballard County. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Elizabeth Weldon, 84, of La Center died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Weldon; one grandson, Eddie Wayne Todd; one great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Saturday March 1, 2014, at Mapleview Cemetery
Daniel Lee Carter, age 25, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah. Daniel graduated from Ballard Memorial High School in 2006. He was previously employed by the Ballard County Wildlife Management Area. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman with a special passion for duck hunting that he shared with his brother Luke. He was a gifted guitar player and shared his love for music and classic rock with his sister Crissie. Daniel was kind-hearted and had a great love for his friends and family and never met a stranger. He is survived by his parents, Marshall and Regenia Carter of Kevil, Ky.; one brother, Luke Carter and his wife Olivia of Kevil, Ky.; one sister, Crissie Carter of Marietta, Georgia; his grandmother, Betty Kinsey of Kevil, Ky.; and his precious nephew, Isaac Carter of Kevil, who loved his uncle D and enjoyed "cooking" for him; his uncle, Barry Kinsey of Kevil, who shared Daniel's love of hunting; and several cousins. Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gene Kinsey, and grandparents, Red and Dee Carter. Funeral services wereheld Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center. Interment followed at Providence Cemetery in Kevil.
William Frank Baumer, Sr., 86, of Paducah, died Monday at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL. He was born in Paducah on December 18, 1927 to the late Henry Herman Baumer, Sr. and Bernice Aline Tatum Baumer. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Past Missouri District Treasurer of the Lutheran Layman’s League and Social Club. An area farmer, he was a past Director at Southern States Cooperative. He was also a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Doris Elizabeth Zoller Baumer; four sons, William Frank Baumer, Jr., of Paducah, David Scott Baumer and wife Tricia of Paducah, Robert Allan Baumer and wife Jennifer of Memphis, TN and Mark Andrew Baumer and wife Jennifer of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren, Erin Baumer Hudson, Michael Baumer, Alan Baumer, Logan Baumer, Landon Baumer, Josiah Baumer, and Gavin Baumer; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Baumer and Lincoln Baumer; and his brother, Paul Frederick Baumer of Woodland, Ca. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Jane Baumer Walter and a brother, Henry Baumer, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Corey Aker officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
