Funeral Services for Forest C. (Tom) Jenkins will be held at Kevil First Baptist Church on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Where he had been a member for 63 years. Dr. Stewart Strickland will be officiating. He had been a Deacon for over 40 years and served in many other positions. He loved his church family and loved helping others especially young people. Tom died at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 surrounded by members of his family. He was born April 13, 1918 to Forest Clifton and Linnie Ford Jenkins. He had just observed his 96th birthday. His siblings were two brothers Frank and Harold Jenkins and a sister Katherine. All of which have preceded him in death. Tom's Mother died when he was three and his father later married Mary Elizabeth Childress. And to this union four more children were born. Mary Jane, Betty, Bobby, and Margaret. All of who preceded him in death except his sister Margaret Thweatt of West Paducah, Ky. and a sister in law Harolyn Jenkins of Kevil and several nieces and nephews. Tom's hobbies were collecting knives, clocks, caps, and walking canes. He was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp # 53, and IBEW. He was a World War II veteran having volunteered October 31, 1940, and serving in the First Army Division where he was a Tank Driver for 33 months in the North African Campaign. He retired from Jackson Purchase RECC after 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dot Lindsey Jenkins who married February 11, 1949 at the Kevil Baptist Church. His son Jeff Jenkins and wife SueZee of Kevil, and his daughter Becky Nicol and her husband Steve of Kevil. Two Grandsons Michael Jenkins and Chris Jenkins and wife Sarah. One Grandaughter Lindsey Nicol of Kevil. Two Great Grandsons Scott Jenkins and Ethan Jenkins and another Great Grandson expected May 22, 2014 all of Kevil. Tom' s family was his pride and joy. And his Grandchildren affectionately called him GaGa. He was preceded in death by one nephew Russell Jenkins, his parents, and siblings and a loving step-mother. Funeral Services were held Friday at Kevil Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Newton Creek Cemetery with Military Rites.
Daniel Kevin "Doc" Hays, 53, of Cunningham, died Friday, May 09, 2014 at 4:47 am at his home. Kevin was born December 18, 1960 in Paducah to Daniel Kent and Wanda Sue Puckett Hays. He was a 1978 graduate of Carlisle County High School, to which he remained a faithful supporter of the Comets athletic programs. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. A longtime farmer, Kevin was a dairy farmer until 1987 then continued farming tobacco, beans, corns, hay and enjoyed his vegetable garden. Until recently, he was a sheet metal fabricator for USEC. Kevin was an avid UK fan also. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ronda Crabb Hays; a daughter, Tasha Lynn Elliott and husband Michael of Mayfield; a granddaughter, Brooke Elliott; his parents, Daniel Kent and Wanda Sue Puckett Hays of Cunningham; siblings, Klint Hays and wife Kelly of Cunningham, Cindy Arnold and husband Jim of Cunningham, and Donna Wilson and husband Mike of Fancy Farm; mother in law, Judy Crabb of Cunningham; brother and sister in law, Rick and Cherie Crabb of Bertrand, MO; nieces and nephews, Kliff Wilson, Jason Wilson, Andrea Gill, Kris Arnold, Justin Arnold, Kirk Arnold, Tisha Flegle, April Hays, Nathan Guthrie and Maya Guthrie; and 14 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in law, Bill Crabb; and a nephew, Klint Hays. Funeral services will be held on May 13th at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Kenneth Puckett and Rev. Brian Jennings officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery
Lindsey Henderson, age 25, died at her home in Madisonville, Ky. on Saturday Evening May 10, 2014 at 5:32 P.M. Lindsey was a member of First Baptist Church of La Center. She graduated from Ballard Memorial High School in 2006. She graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was currently employed by Hopkins County Board of Education. Lindsey enjoyed spending time with her black lab Bailey whom she loved and adored. She is survived by her Father Terry Henderson of Barlow, Ky. Her Mother Kelly Fronabarger and husband , Keith of Kevil, Ky. One brother Bradley Henderson of Paducah, Ky. One step-sister Ashton Cavanaugh of Wickliffe, Ky. Grandparents, Forest B. Henderson of Barlow, Ky. Carol Estey of Henderson, Ky. and Aubrey Gibson of Henderson, Ky. Several Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Lindsey was preceded in death by her Grandmother Mattie Jo Henderson. Graveside Service were held May 13th at La Center Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Bond officiating. Interment will follow at La Center Cemetery. Morrow Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
Richard Gene VanMeter, age 56, died at his home in Kevil, Thursday May 8, 2014 at 5;00 p.m. Richard was presently employed at Baptist Health Department of Surgery as a Operating Room Technition. He was retired from the Navy after serving 20 years with the Navy and Army. He was survived by his wife Denise VanMeter of Kevil,his Mother Ann VanMeter Wolfingbarger of Kevil, one son Adam VanMeter and his wife Sarah of Paducah, one daughter Heather Freytag and her husband Philip of Brunswick, Maine, one brother Terry VanMeter of St. Louis, Missouri, one half brother Paul VanMeter Jr. of Illinois and two sisters Debra Cash McGraw and her husband Jon of Cadiz, Ky. and Cheryl Clark and her husband Gary of Cahokia, Illinois. Three Grandchildren Claire, Leighton, and Liam. Richard was preceded in death by his father Paul VanMeter and half brother Roger Dean VanMeter and step-father George Wolfingbarger. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Dr. Rev. James Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery with full Military Honors. Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center is handling arrangements.
