Wayne Burnham, 73, of Metropolis died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at his home. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Hillerman Baptist Church Cemetery in Hillerman. Other arrangements were incomplete.

Mrs. Jean F. McColgin, age 89, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 10:48 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Lourdes hospital. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Father Michael Christopher Mujule officiated. Burial followed in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Jean moved to Metropolis in 1963 with her husband and was a piano teacher for 25 years in Metropolis. She was a member of the American Federation of Music Clubs, an Adult Literacy Volunteer, co-founded the Massac County Arts Council, and she wrote a weekly column for the Metropolis Planet. She was a member of the Metropolis Garden Club and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she served as Lector and Cantor for Liturgy, and was a supporter of and performer at the Market House Theater. Faith and Family were a guide to Jean throughout her life. Jean is survived by two daughters, Linda Arms of Memphis, Tenn., and Leslie McColgin and husband George Kennedy of Lowes, Ky.; two grandchildren, Calen Andrew Kennedy of Lowes, Ky., and Candra Wynne Kennedy and husband Jeremy Prouty of Philadelphia, Pa.; and one nephew, Dr. C. Thomas Webb Jr. of Elk Grove Village, Ill. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Louise E. (Power) Foster; husband, Herbert H. McColgin; sister, Dorothy Louise Webb; and brother, Jack Foster. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, August 18, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to: St. Rose of Lima, 315 East 3rd Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960; or National Right to Life Committee, Inc, 512 10th Street NW, Washington, DC 20004. Organist will be Lois Brinkman and Cantor will be Caroline Korte.

Rickey "Stickman" Davenport, 54, of Kevil, formerly of Wickliffe, died Friday at 3:10 p.m. at his home. Rickey was born in Cairo, Ill., on September 17, 1959, to Alfred and Eurbaleen Sullivan Davenport. He graduated from Ballard Memorial High School and was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. Rickey retired from Paducah Heating and Cooling as a HVAC installer. He is survived by his son, Channing Davenport of Kevil; sister, Anissa Davenport Johnson and husband Ken of Kevil; grandson, Hunter Davenport of San Pablo, Calif.; and parents, Alfred and Eurbaleen Davenport of Kevil. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Eurbin and Johnie Sullivan, and Jeff and Della Davenport. Funeral services were held Sunday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with Revs. Glen Crow and Woody Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Wickliffe Cemetery.
