Donald Eugene Giles Sr. died Sunday evening, October 12th at his home in Bandana. Donald was 78 years old. Donald was a member of Bandana Baptist Church. He was a member of North Ballard Masonic Lodge # 537. Donald also, was Ballard County Deputy Sheriff under Jack Stevens and Todd Cooper. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served in the Air Force Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Pat Giles. Five sons Donald Giles Jr. of Virginia, Robert Giles of Kings Land, Georgia, Steven Giles of Bandana, Ky. David Clemons of Bandana, Ky. and Michael Clemons of Murray, Ky. Two daughters Deanna Nation of Livingston, Texas, and Lisa Elrod of Kevil, Ky. One brother Ronald Giles of La Center, Ky. Four sisters Faithie Guffy of Plano, Texas, Roxie Sanders of Brookport, Illinois, Phyliss Golightly of East Prairie, Missouri and Janet Price of Houston, Texas. Fourteen Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grand Children. Donald was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and his parents Robert Edward Sr. and Lurene Giles. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, October 16th at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Rev. Frank Queen officiating. Interment followed La Center Cemetery. Visitation was held October 14h with Masonic Rites following.
Phyllis Ann Crabtree died, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Baptist Health of Paducah. She was born November 22, 1932 to Olin and Leah Ford Canup. She attended Heath High School and New Liberty Methodist Church. She was a member of Bandana Eastern Star. She is survived by one son, J.V. Crabtree of Kevil; four daughters, Pat Warford of LaCenter, Marlene McCuiston of Eddyville, Mary Jo Crabtree of LaCenter, and Opaline Long of Bandana; one sister, Ruby West of Wisconsin and thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Crabtree, her parents, Olin and Leah Canup, one brother, Ben Canup, one sister, Mary Vandene, one son, Gregory Crabtree and one daughter, Shelia Crabtree. Graveside services for Phyllis Crabtree were held November 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Kevil with Cindy Engelhardt officiating. Donations in memory of Mrs. Crabtree may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater KY and Southern IN Chapter, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans LN, STE 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284. Elma L. Crews, age 92, of La Center, Ky. passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at Life Care Center in La Center, Ky. She is survived by two sons Jimmy Timmons of Columbus, Ky. and Joe Timmons (Linda) of Erie, Pennsylvania. One daughter Janet Viets (Mark) of La Center. Three Grandchildren, Emily Story (Jason) of Kevil, Ky., Jason Timmons and Jennifer Timmons both of Erie, Pennsylvania. One Great Grandchild Hadley Story of Kevil, Ky. Elma was a member of Barlow Baptist Church and also had attended The Christian Church in LaCenter, Ky. She cooked for 20 years for the Ballard County Board of Education at the Barlow School. She was preceded in death by her first husband Edwin H. Timmons and her second husband James W. Crews, two sisters, a daughter in law, a Grandson, one neice and her parents Sterling and Laura Epperson. Graveside Services were held Sunday, November 9th at Barlow Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Sickling officiating. Interment followed Barlow Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be sent to St. Mary's Food Pantry P.O. Box 570 La Center, Kentucky 42056. Alice Marie Moss, age 69, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital. She was member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church, and was a School Bus Driver for Ballard County Board of Education for several years. Alice is survived by her husband of 45 years Wayne Moss of La Center,Ky. Two sons Jerry Moss of La Center, Ky. and Jimmy Moss and his wife Savanna of West Paducah, Ky. One daughter Penny Moss of La Center, Ky. Three sisters Bertricia Goodrum of Greenville, Ky., Lena Quarles of Kevil, Ky. and Elizabeth Hawkins of Kevil, Ky. Seven Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death two brothers, one Grandchild and her parents James and Dorothy Gibson. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 8th at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Rev. Bill Ogden and Rev. John Baker officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday Evening from 5-8 at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center, Ky.
