Michael David Lair Kissiar, age 17, of Wickliffe, passed away at 2:43 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Michael was an old school, hardworking, and respectful young man. He attended Ballard Memorial High School where he played as a receiver on the Bomber Football Team and was also on the Track Team. He was a member of the 100% Club for never missing a practice or weightlifting. He was also in the 800 lb Club in weightlifting. His favorite saying was the football team slogan "Hold the Rope". He was a member of the Ballard County High School Future Farmers of America. He worked for his family's business, A&D Logging Company. In his spare time he loved to be at his home with his family and girlfriend, Laken Hall. He always wanted to become a United States Marine. He was a member of Blandville Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He leaves behind a legacy and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his parents, David Michael and Amy Stewart Kissiar; brothers, Shane Lair of Wickliffe, Clint Atchison of Wickliffe, Matthew David Kissiar of Mayfield, Roney "Bubby" Chaney of East Prairie, MO, Zach McAffee of Wickliffe; (cousins raised as brothers), Devrin Stewart of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Tyler Wilson of Cape Girardeau, MO; sisters, Megan Chaney of East Prairie, MO, Heather and Leslie Chaney of East Prairie, MO; grandmothers, Deborah Stewart and Alice Kissiar; girlfriend, Laken Hall. Funeral services for Michael will be held at Wickliffe First Baptist Church Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Burkley Cemetery in Burkley, KY. Iola Yates, age 86, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 11:20 a.m. at Life Care Center in La Center. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Iola is survived by three sons, Wardell Yates (Neomi) of Kevil, Earnest Yates (Barbara) of La Center, Ronnie Yates of Kevil, and one stepson, Urais (Yvette) Yates of La Center, Ky.; three daughters, Debora Smith Yates of La Center, Sandra Yates of La Center, and Allison Yates of La Center; one sister, Erma Arnold of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everette Turner Yates; five brothers, Earnest Griffin, Frankie Griffin, James Oliver Griffin, Ollie Griffin and Willie Day Griffin; two sisters, Kitty Belcher and Leola Griffin; one great-grandchild, and her parents, Lizzie and Plez Griffin. Graveside services were held Saturday, January 10, 2015, at La Center Cemetery with the Rev. Hulon Warren officiating. Interment will follow at La Center Cemetery. Connie Miller, age 62, of Barlow died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 12:13 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah. She owned and operated Connie's Beauty Shop for many years. Connie was a Nurse and Caregiver for 46 years. She was a member of Barlow Baptist Church. She was a Foster Care Parent for many years. Connie is survived by one son, Larry Miller and his wife Amanda of Barlow, Ky.; one daughter, Janie Adeline Miller of La Center; five brothers, Bobby Miller of Barlow, Chuck Miller of La Center, John Miller of North Carolina, William Earl Miller of Barlow, and her twin, Donnie Miller of Barlow; two sisters, Pat Burpo of Bardwell and Mary Alice Mundy of Brighton, Michigan; four grandchildren, Chloe Elizabeth, Kierstan, Kylie and Wrigley. She was preceded in death by one son, Jamie D.Miller; one grandson, Riley; one sister, Mildred; and her parents, John and Janie Miller. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Burnette officiating. Bob Geurin, 92, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at Parkview Nursing and Rehablitation in Paducah. Mr. Geurin was an Army Air Force veteran, a Gideon and a member of Fathers House Church. He is survived by one cousin, Mildred Job of Dover, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by two sisters. His parents were Herman and Lilly Geurin. Graveside services were held Friday, January 9, 2015, at Wofford Cemetery in Dover, Tennessee. Interment followed. Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center was in charge of arrangements.
