Ms. Joanne (Copeland) Paulsell, age 84, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 5:26 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Ms. Paulsell graduated from S.I.U. Carbondale with a teaching degree in 1955. She spent most of her teaching career in Phoenix, AZ, when she moved in 1961, but returned to Metropolis after retirement and began substitute teaching. Joanne was a proud member of the Fort Massac Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joanne is survived by her 3 sons, Sky Paulsell and wife Soly of Arizona, Robin Paulsell and wife Monica of Northern California, and Todd Paulsell of Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joyce Copeland-Bacon and husband Norman of Texas; 1 brother, Glenn Copeland of Joppa; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bessie (May) Copeland. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Ft. Massac NSDAR, c/o Brenda Mizell, 501 E. 5th St., Metropolis, IL 62960.

Shirley Ann Jones, 76, of Paducah, formerly of Blandville, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. She was a member of Blandville Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Busenbark of Paducah; her sister, Floria Mae Brown of Columbia, Missouri; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jones; one son, Phillip R. Jones; three sisters; and three brothers. Her parents were Grover Nathaniel and Bertha Burgess Lee. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe with the Rev. Larry Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Blandville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the funeral home.

James Richard "Dick" Ashby, 87, died at 3:16 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. Mr. Ashby was a member of Bandana United Methodist Church. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran. He was past administrator for Ballard County Ambulance and DES administrator for Ballard County for several years. Mr. Ashby retired from Federal Aviation Administration with 27 1/2 years' service. He was a member of North Ballard Masonic Lodge No. 537 for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Frances Young Ashby; and one daughter, Susie Ashby of Paducah. Mr. Ashby was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. His parents were Wayne and Anna Mae Ashby. Services were held Monday, February 9, 2015, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center with the Rev. Kenny Locke officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Michael L. Allen, 68, of Barlow died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at his home. Arrangements were incomplete at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe.
