Aircraft crash sends two to hospital

BARDWELL - On May 4, 2014, approximately 5:12 p.m., the Kentucky State Police responded to an aircraft collision located in a field behind 634 County Road 1229, South of Bardwell, KY.

According to the police report the aircraft, was a 1965 Champion, model 7GCAA, single engine, fixed wing, and was piloted by Mark A. King 47, of Bardwell, KY. One passenger, Jonathan A. Cain 20, of Paducah, KY was also on-board. The report stated that the collision occurred while the plane was taking off from a field runway strip. The landing gear was torn away and the plane overturned on its top.

Both, King and Cain, were transported to Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY, for treatment of minor injuries.

The Kentucky State Police, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are continuing the investigation.
