American Legion Post 217 honors fallen soldiers
by Pat Thomann, Editor
The field in front of the Burna American Legion Post 217 will soon be filled with thousands of crosses honoring Livingston County Residents who have served in any branch of the military and are deceased.
Over the years many more have been added to the number making the total this year about 3,000.
Placing the crosses in the ground in just the right position has become a very time consuming task and there have not been enough volunteers to help make the job easier on our remaining veterans that lovingly preform this job each year without fail.
Plans are being made to erect a perminent memorial on the site. When the memorial is completed this task will be eliminated. No word yet on when that will be started. More information will be provided when we know more details.
