Arlington City first meeting of the new year held

ARLINGTON— The Arlington City Council Meeting was held on Monday January 13, 2014.

Those attending were Mayor Bobby McGee, Clerk Ana Dixon, Commissioners Paul Gaddie, Hayli Burgess, LH Tyler, and Jimmy Williams, City employee John Lemons, Logan Stinson, Chris Wood with the Carlisle Weekly and Lilly Morefield with The Carlisle County News.

Mayor McGee called the meeting to order at 5pm.

A motion made and approved to accept last months minutes.

After Dixon reported on the Treasure Report a motion was made and second to approve.

During the Cemetery Report Gaddie stated everything is going good at the cemetery.

During the Commonwealth Gas report Williams stated that a meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday evening and that everything is going good.

During sanitation report Burgess stated that the old Jitter has been fixed.

John Lemons stated the Arlington Fire Department responded to one fire for the month.

Park and City Activity Report: Burgess reported that the next event scheduled for the city of Arlington will be the Easter Egg Hunt. And it will be followed by the Memorial Day weekend and the Apple Festival is planned for September 13-2014.

Mayor McGee stated that Lemons has been picking up trash and fixing pipes that had froze and burst around the city.

During New business Burgess made a motion to donate $100 to the 2014 Relay for Life, of and was second by Gaddie.

Also during new business a motion was made and carried to approve new officers for Arlington Volunteer Fire Department as follows, Justin Jones Chief, Logan Stinson Assistant Chief, Michelle Terry Secretary, Josh Gaddie and Jeffery Gorham maintenance, and James Coughlins safety officers.

 

The meeting was adjourned.
