(Ballard County Cooperative Open House March 2014)
The new John Deere spreader has just arrived
La Center – According to Manager Dewayne Mercer, the new John Deere spreader has arrived at the Ballard County Cooperative (BCC). The behemoth of a machine was parked near the front of the Coop during the Open House and Annual meeting held on Saturday March 29, 2014. With an interesting winter, Mercer expects business to pick up with trucks arriving with farm products and retail items, farmers coming in to purchase their seeds as well as any other necessary items and other patrons preparing for their backyard gardens.
Patrons as well as stockholders were seen throughout the building looking at items such as rifles, fishing poles and dog food. The children were admiring the live chicks. Others were eating a donut or some cookies provided by the Coop.
Both incumbents, President Michael Soper and Secretary Jimmy Cooper were reelected for another term by the stockholders.
During the open house at the BCC, door prizes were given away to stockholders and BCC patrons as well. There were a total of 79 prizes drawn for this year’s event. Elizabeth Miller won the $200 gift card. Tommy Case filled out the winning ticket for the John Deere Martin house. Reno Bodell took home the Yeti Rodie cooler.
