Bardwell City Council January Meeting held
BARDWELL- The monthly Bardwell City Meeting was held on Tuesday January 15, 2014.
Those attending were Mayor Philip King, Commissioners, Edwina Turner, Michael Hoskins, Kay Presson, Justin Shehorn, Treasure Adrian Burgess, Visitors included Huck’s Store District Manager Greg Stewart, Attorney Jason Batts, Jessie Adams, Chris Wood with the Carlisle Co. Weekly, and Lilly Morefield with the Carlisle County News.
Mayor King called the meeting to order at 5PM and welcomed everyone for attending.
Turner made a motion to approve the December minutes second by Presson was carried.
A motion made by Smith and 2ND by Hoskins to approve the financial report was carried.
After discussion of salt for the city, a motion made by Hoskins and 2nd by Presson to approve the monthly bills was carried.
King briefed on the Jennings Street Bridge project stating that all the material is now in and that Black Construction crew began measuring today. He also stated the city has received $214,300.00 grant money for the project.
Huck’s alley closing was discussed Attorney Batts stated that there is no issues with an old alley that runs behind the store. Huck’s District Manager Greg Stewart stated that plans for the store includes a makeover on the interior and exterior and that a drive thru window will be included and that the store will offer Godfathers Pizza. He also stated there will be someone on site to oversee the project and that local people will be used on the project as much as possible.
King briefed on the city electric, he stated that now they may be able purchase electricity from Owensboro Municipal Utilities instead of where they now are getting it. He also stated that they will be easier to work with. Other updates included the city received Ice Storm money of $133,218.58 and are finalizing a radio grant from Homeland Security for $5000.
Visitor Jessie Adams reported a water leak at his mom home in Bardwell stating the leak is on the city and has been leaking for some time now. King stated he will make a work order and have someone to look at it first thing in the morning.
The meeting went into closed session to discuss personnel.
