Kiwanis Club of Paducah Awards $17,500 in Scholarships to Local Students

Seventeen students from three area high schools were honored at The Kiwanis Club of Paducah meeting on Thursday, April 18. The Club distributed $17,500 in scholarships to be used toward continuing education.

Scholarship recipients from McCracken County High School include: Alizabeth Culp, Emily Dew, Luke Resser, Hayden Faughn, and Martha McHaney; from Paducah Tilghman High School: Elizabeth Barnes, Heather Barrows, Megan Davis, Austin Griffith, Julianna Morre, Joseph Price II, Addison Rogers, Katelyn Rogers, Eileen Sember and Nautica Beasley; and from St. Mary High School: Dorian Record and Adisyn Fleming.

The Kiwanis Scholarship Fund is supported through annual ham sales, BBQ on the River participation and other fundraisers throughout the year. Mason DeJarnett, Kiwanis President, said "The work ethic and determination of these students give us a tremendous amount of encouragement as we look forward to the years ahead. With it in these students' hands, and the many other applicants, our future is secure."

The Paducah Kiwanis Club meets weekly on Thursdays at noon at 701 Broadway. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome. The Club is a group of men and women dedicated to philanthropic efforts (focusing on children's charities) and community service.
