Bomber Golf Team Defeats Carlisle

Ballard Memorial's golf team cruised to a 166-191 victory over Carlisle County on Wednesday, September 10th at the Ballard County Country Club. Fulton County did not have enough players to field a full team, but the Pilot's Ryne Choate took medalist honors in the match. Choate was coming off a top 25 performance at the All A state competition and claimed the medalist honors in the match with a two over par 38. He finished one stroke ahead of the Bomber duo of Steven McGowan and Mason Allen. Austin Dowdy came in with a four over par 40 while Matt Grogan finished with a 48 for the Bombers.
In girl's competition, three players competed with two from Carlisle and Meghan Walker for Ballard Memorial. Lady Comet Sydney Hicks took medalist honors with a 43 with Walker finishing in second with a 50 and Abby Lyell shooting a 51.
As the season winds down, the golf team has three more matches remaining on the season before the regional tournament. Ballard Memorial will travel to Carlisle on Tuesday, September 16 and then go to Calloway County on Thursday before having their home finale on Monday the 22nd against Mayfield. The Cardinals are coming off a strong All A state appearance as they claimed the runner up finish in the 16 team competition. They finished three strokes behind host Somerset. The Bombers wrap up the season with the girl's regional tournament on Monday, September 29th at Silos and the boys compete in their regional tournament on Tuesday the 30th at Murray.
