Bombers compete at State Track Meet

Louisville - Five of Ballard Memorial’s stand-out performers traveled to Louisville this past Saturday for the Class 1A Kentucky State Track Meet. The 4 Bombers and 1 Lady Bomber represented Ballard County well and brought home a few wins, too.

The Ballard Memorial Boys 4x100 Meter Relay team placed 8th in the state with a time of 45.99. The team consisting of Steven McGowan, Dre Bledsoe, Cash Owsley, and Jabarie Bledsoe scored one point for BMHS.   These same athletes took 8th place last year as well with a time of 45.69.

Saturday also brought out stellar performances by Dre Bledsoe and Erin Young. Dre ran his way into a 3rd place win in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 50.79. He was right behind 2nd place winner Zachary Wheeler of Glasgow, who had a time of 50.03.

Dre came in 12th place in the Boys 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.69. Last year, he had taken 14th place in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.62. Dre will be going into his Senior year at BMHS this fall, so his fans have one more year to watch his successes in Track and Field as well as on the basketball court.

Ninth grade Lady Bomber Erin Young took the 8th place slot in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 49.60. She was just behind Fairview’s Katie Richard, who took 7th place with a time of 49.37. Last year, Erin had taken 10th place in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 49.12.

Erin came in 19th place in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 28.22. Considering the winner, Senior Madison Culbertson of St. Henry, took home the 1st place title with a time of 25.81, Erin is surely to take it up a notch over her next three years at Ballard Memorial as her fans get to watch her successes in Track and Field and in basketball.

10th grade Bomber Jabarie Bledsoe had some great performances as well. He placed 16th in the Triple Jump by leaping a distance of 38.05. In addition, he placed 22nd in the Long Jump with a distance of 16.10.
