Bombers shut out by Mustangs

by Kelly Paul

Barlow - The Bombers were the latest victims to fall to McCracken's super-team on August 26th when the Mustangs slammed Ballard Memorial with a barrage of 12 goals in the first half, thereby ending the game only halfway through the contest.

McCracken's powerhouse team consisting of the best players that would be attending Lone Oak, Reidland, and Heath High Schools had the schools not consolidated last year, started its dominating stampede through the region by winning all four of its first games, including BMHS, with 3 being complete shutouts.

The Mustangs shut down St. Mary with a score of 10-0 in both teams' season openers on Aug. 18th. After suffering the blow, St. Mary blanked BMHS with a score of 0-5 a few days later during the Bombers' season opener.

After destroying their first victim, the Mustangs took on Caldwell County where the Tigers just barely nudged their way out of a shut out game by scoring 1 goal, which brought their final score to 1-8 with MCHS on top.

The Mustangs went on to crush Mayfield with a shut out score of 10-0 just 2 days following the Cardinal's 8-2 victory over Ballard Memorial.

Two of the Mustang's top scorers dominated the contest against the Bombers; Senior Alex Knowles netted 5 goals for MCHS, bringing his season goal total to 14. Senior Austin Collins scored 3 goals for MCHS, bringing his goal account to 10.

Although not scoring, Ballard Memorial's Colton Tremblay had one shot on goal about 15 minutes into the game.

The Bombers next contest is against Massac on September 4th.
