Can God Heal?
Dr. John Lake received a questionnaire from a group of religious scholars who were seeking his input into their studies. They directed their inquiry to Dr. Lake because he was both a physician and a man of strong faith. Their inquiry contained 5 questions but it was the very first question that drew his strongest reply.
The first question was, "Can God heal?" Dr. Lake replied that for Christian leaders to ask such a question was a sad testimony to the spiritual condition of the Church. Can God? What a question! Job said, "God can do everything." The Bible tells us With God all things are possible."
The first verse of the Bible says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Anyone who believes the first verse of the Bible shouldn't have any further doubts about what God can do. The scriptures teach us that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere present. He is the eternal creator of everything that exists.
Dr. Lake wondered what kind of backslidden shape the church had gotten into that its leader would ask, "can God heal?" the four gospels are filled with incidents of healings during the earthly ministry of Jesus. The Book of Acts tells us how the healings continued during the early years of Church history.
A man brought his afflicted son to Jesus and said, "If you can do anything, please help us." Jesus answered, "If you can believe - all things are possible to him who believes." The problem is not whether God can, the problem is our unbelief. "Can God" - Should become, "God can!" God and do anything HE wants to! Can you believe Him?
