La Center – Joe Culver of Monkeys Eyebrow spoke at the recent Ballard County Chamber Breakfast meeting at the Bluegrass Restaurant. Culver talked about his qualifications and his platform for running for the Ballard County Judge/Executive office.
Culver started his presentation by saying that he was born and raised in Ballard County and graduated from Ballard Memorial High School. Culver continued by saying that he studied at several colleges, including the University of Kentucky, Murray State University and he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Culver also said that after years of not practicing law, he has the good sense not to start today. He has extensive experience in the newspaper business and wrote over a hundred articles about the Three Mile Island Accident.
Culver is running on the Old MacDonald E-I-E-I-O platform relying on his managerial, professional and educational experiences. The first “E” stands for Economy. He believes that the economy needs to flourish so that the jobs will attract the young people in the county so that they do not have to leave Ballard County to look for a job. The “I” stands for Image. Culver stated, “I want Ballard County’s image to be a positive one.” Culver continued by saying that Ballard County has the best qualities of country living. The second “E” stands for Education. Education is important since a good education will help provide good paying jobs for the county. The second “I” stands for Infrastructure. Culver said that the county will always need roads, and we need senior centers. The “O” stands for Openness. Referring to his newspaper background, Culver does not like executive sessions and will not go into closed session without a legitimate reason if elected as Judge/Executive.
