Corvette Club stops in Paducah
by Teresa Ann Pearson
Around 400 Corvettes passed through the area on Wednesday, August 27 as the Oklahoma/Texas Panhandle Group for the 20th Anniversary Celebration & Caravan.
The group traveled through the Ky Great River Road on thier way to Bowling Green for the celebration.
The group, which grew larger along the way, planned on stopping to "reform" at Hilvue Heights Baptist Church on Nashville Road and then get a police escort to the National Corvette Museum for thier "arrival" show.
Caravan participants had plenty of opportunities along the way to eat and refuel, stopping in Cape Girardeau, Paducah, Cadiz, Hopkinsville, and Russellville in our area.
One Corvette driver who stopped at Whitehaven in Paducah said "You won't catch us all at one place until we get there, because if we all descend upon one place there won't be enough parking."
He explained that parts of the group would stop at different places while the rest traveled on by and then when those stopped the others would catch up on down the road, keeping them all relatively close together most of the way.
Three 2014 Corvettes were to be raffled off at the event in Bowling Green, tickets were selling for $330 each. For more information go to corvettemuseum.org
