La Center - There is a new business opening up in Ballard County. Maximum Draw Products and Full Rut Taxidermy are located in the building that once housed Graves Brothers on Broadway in La Center. The owners are: Chuck Fischer Founder and CEO, Bill Wildharber and Ronnie Giles.

According to Fischer, Founder of Maximum Draw Products (MDP), he started the deer supplement as a hobby.  Fischer at first started giving away his deer supplement to friends. People then started to want to buy it and people were telling him he should sell it. From 2005 to 2011, it was mostly research to what became today’s Earthquake Deer Supplement Attractant. The Earthquake Deer Supplement and Attractant contains a maximum of 21.5% salt and is designed to help the deer grow bigger racks or produce healthier fawns and does. This product can be used year around.  MDP separates itself from the competition by having a low percentage of salt. Fischer continued by saying that most other products contain salt levels between 60% and 90%. To much salt is not good for the deer.

Since 2005, MDP has expanded its product lines to include Extreme Estrous, Kicker Liquor and the newest product, Get – N- Dirty. Extreme Estrous is 100% fresh sexual hormone collected from live does to attract bucks during the hunting season. Fischer stated that the sexual hormone is not collected through injection like most other manufacturers, but rather through a light restrictive process. It is collected only about two months out of the year starting in mid July directly from a doe’s urine.  Kicker Liquor, in its second year, is a liquid spray made up of acorn, pumpkin and sweet potato. It is an attractant that can be sprayed onto corn piles, foliage, tree limbs and stumps.  Get – N- Dirty is a cover scent used to completely disguise the human scent. It can be used for other animals such and bears and coyotes as well.

Full Rut Taxidermy (FRT) is mainly run by Ronnie Giles. Giles is an apprentice taxidermist under the guidance of Steve Abernathy. Abernathy has fifteen years experience as a taxidermist. FRT will provide full body mounts for deer, bobcats, turkeys, geese, head mounts for deer, anything a client would like to have mounted.

In addition to deer attractants and taxidermy, these two businesses will also have a bow shop onsite. They are also going to sell firearms and rifles. Natgear, a premium clothing line, will also be available in the near future.

MDP is sold through wholesalers located in Paducah, Graves County, Marshall County, and Calloway County, Tennessee and directly via the internet.
