Great River Road information heard during Carlisle County Fiscal Court Meeting

BARDWELL- The Carlisle County Fiscal Court met in regular session Tuesday January 21, 2014.

Those attending were County Judge/Executive Greg Terry, County Court Clerk Michael Toon, Magistrates Burley Mathis, Sonny Pearson, Lloyd Presson, Secretary Brandi Webb, Treasure Susan Bailey, Emergency Management Coordinator Carissa Viniard, 911 Director Josh Glover, Ambulance Director Wayne Floyd, Coroner Steve Freeman, Jailer Ronnie Owens,

Visitors included, Norma Pruitt, Ken Barriger, Dan Bowles, Sara Bennett with the Carlisle County Weekly, and Lilly Morefield with the Carlisle County News.

Judge Terry called the meeting to order at 9:30AM and welcomed everyone for attending.

A motion was made and carried to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.

KYGRRO Executive Director Norma Pruitt updated magistrates on what the organization has been involved in and how she is promoting Kentucky Great River Region. She briefed on trail opportunities, new marketing funding, advertising opportunities and technical assistance with businesses and entrepreneurs. Pruitt stated she has been elected as Co- Chairman of Marketing Committee for the National Mississippi Rive Parkway Commission. Also that she was named as a representative on a 2-stated Ken – Tenn. Marketing Partnership and appointed Representative on, a 10-state National Geographic Committee.

Pruitt stated she has put together a brochure promotion local festivals and events that will be available in tourist stops around Kentucky. Also a gift pack basket from many sponsors is available for bids and is packed with gift certificates and other goodies from around the area. Ambulance Report; Floyd stated the service had a total of 47 runs for the month of February, and collected $43,312 for the month. He also stated that the training is going good.

Carlisle County Coroner Steve Freeman stated that new Deputy Coroner Bridget Choat would be covering for him while he is attending meetings.

Emergency Management Viniard stated that March is weather preparedness month and also updated on spotter classes that will be held. Anyone interested in the class can contact her at the Carlisle County Judge Office.

Jail Report, Owens stated there are 4 inmates in Hickman and 2 in Ballard County Detention Center.

Road Report; salt used during the snow and ice storm was discussed.

911 and Solid Waste Report; Glover updated on possible grants that will come available. He also stated that the spring dumpsters will be put out during the month of April but that no tires or mattress can be disposed in the dumpster. Glover updated on the new phone service stating that it will cut cost to 30-40% as the old service.

New Business included a motion made and carried to loan the County Clerk $1762.67 to balance the 2013 tax account. Other motions made and approved were the transfers and to pay claims.
