La Center â€“ The sun was shining and the temperature was just right to hold the Grand Opening Ceremony for Gregâ€™s Market on Thursday, October 3rd.Â When asked, Greg Godby, owner of Gregâ€™s Market, had this to say about Ballard County, â€śBallard County is such a great, and very caring community.â€ť
Gregâ€™s Market is having specials all week as well as prizes to give away.Â Â According to Wesley Newton, Manager of Gregâ€™s Market, the top prize is a 32â€ť flat screen TV, another prize is a Keurig Coffee Maker, and ten entrants will each win $50 in the $500 Grocery-Give-Away.
It was almost a year ago when Joe Brooks Whipple retired and sold Whippleâ€™s after his family had been in the grocery business for 89 years. Godby said that Whippleâ€™s had a very good customer base and Godby is pleased that Gregâ€™s Market has done well.Â Godby added, â€śThe community has been very receptive and friendly.â€ť
According to Kim Godby, Gregâ€™s wife, Greg has been in the grocery business for 25 plus years. He started out working for Kroger when he was in high school.Â Greg continued working at Kroger during his years in college.Â Sometime after Greg left Kroger, he started working for Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG).Â Â Greg has wholesale and retail knowledge, which he uses on a daily basis to run all three of his grocery stores in Western Kentucky.
