Many years ago Pepper Martin of the St. Louis Cardinals “gas house gang” shocked a sportswriter. The newsman reminded him that he had accomplished about all anyone possibly could in the sport of baseball, and he followed by asking Mr. Martin what his goals were for the remainder of his life. The unexpected answer was, “I want to go to heaven when I die!”
Nothing is more relevant than the fact of the Hereafter. There is a Heaven to gain and a Hel to shun and nobody is exempted. All of your family, all of your co-workers, everyone you know, in fact, everyone on earth is going to spend a short time on earth, and an eternity in either Heaven or Hell. There is nothing more relevant to us all.
HEAVEN IS REAL
A little four year old boy had a near death experience while having surgery. He later told his parents things he saw and heard that no one could have known, especially a four year old child. He said, “Heaven is real. I think you are going to like it!” heaving is indeed real, Jesus called heaven a PLACE. He said, “I go to prepare a place for you.” He ascended to that place in His resurrected body. He promised to return to take us to that place He call My Father’s House.”
A liberal theologian called Heaven “A state of mind.” Many people speak of Heaven as some mink numbing, spaced out, spirits, floating on clouds and playing harps forever. Too much Hollywood and not enough Bible creates that kind of misinformation. The Bible refers to Haven over 300 times. We are told Heaven is a place where a multitude of people who have been redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ, Worship, serve, and reign with God throughout eternity in a sinless, curse less, New Jerusalem and New earth.
HOW DO YOU GET THERE
Jesus gave us the directions to the place called heaven when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
