Historical Society plans Civil War Dinner

By Pat Thomann, Editor

The Livingston County Historical & Genealogical Society met on Thursday October 9, 2014 to discuss the upcoming Civil War Dinner to be held at the Livingston County High School on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

Along with the dinner, the Society will present performers in full Civil War dress and also display Civil War artifacts. The Historical presentation will be on "Flags and Music of the Civil War Era." A Silent Auction will be held and there will be several Door Prizes.

Those attending will be dining on a BBQ Dinner catered by Neil's Catering of Paducah. Historical Society members will be providing various dessert items. The Cost of the meal will be $12 and your meal ticket will be your entry into the drawings. There will be no charge for the performance part of the evening but you must purchase a ticket for the meal. You may buy tickets from any Society member or at the door but tickets will be limited and it is suggested you purchase yours early. This is a popular event and one that everyone will enjoy. It has sold out in the past. Dress in Civil War costume is suggested but not required.

Money from this event will be used to buy equipment to facilitate development of Old Courthouse into a cultural center for the county. Your support of this event is greatly appreciated.

More events will be planned by the Society throughout the coming months and will be announced when they are finalized. This organization is open to anyone interested in preserving Livingston County history and genealogy and membership is only $10 per year.

The Historical Log Cabin is open Monday through Friday from 1:00pm-5:00pm. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at the Cabin and everyone interested in joining is welcome to attend.
