Most of the services will be enhanced by the new Hospice Care Center that will break ground in May 2014 near the Niemeyer Building at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. It will be comprised of eight suites. These stays will be from 2 – 7 days as an alternative to being placed in a nursing home. According to Poindexter, the patient is not pursuing any curative measures. This will help patients stay stable after an in patient stay. Other services provided are through counseling, spiritual pastoral care and nursing.
