Keeping Christ in Christmas
By Teresa LeNeave
Do you find yourself hoping for a Christmas miracle of peace and quiet? A simple Christmas ... that's what I want. I want to see kids happy with their gifts and hear laughter ringing throughout the house.
I want to remember Jesus is the only reason for the season. It's his birth we celebrate. I want my children and grandchildren to be reminded of Jesus' birth and not the presents they open. Keeping it simple may just make Jesus shine brighter.
With all the intensity of Christmas, what can we do to keep "Christ in our Christmas"?
How about spending time with a friend you haven't seen for a while? No presents required ... just your presence! Enjoy a Christmas program at a local church with your family. Visit an annual live nativity scene, which is a powerful reminder that Jesus is the reason we celebrate.
Say, "Merry Christmas". Have you noticed, everywhere you go people are again saying, "Merry Christmas". It's pleasant to hear.
When it's all said and done, keeping Christ in Christmas is a personal responsibility. We have to decide, personally, to make the season about the Reason.
