Kevil Man Arrested On Felony Charges
On April 26, 2017, a 13 year old female received a message from an older male and reported the message to her parents. At that time the parents took over the conversation and informed the male their age and yet the male continued to engage in conversations with who he believed to be the young female. The male subject's conversations grew more explicit and led to sending inappropriate photographs of himself as well as videos of himself to whom he believed to be the young female.
At this time the activity was reported to sheriff's department and detectives took over the conversations with the male subject.
As the investigation continued the male subject was identified as 27 year old Matthew Pool of Kevil.
Conversations continued and involved topics like Pool asking who he believed was a 13 year old girl to sneak out of her house to see him, requested inappropriate photos of the female, and extremely vulgar comments.
On May 1, 2017, detectives agreed to meet Pool at his request which was supposed to take place after he got off work around 23:00. Detectives, again who was posing as the 13 year old, claimed to be staying at a friend's house near the mall area and agreed to sneak out to meet Pool on the parking lot. Pool who through messages was asking to have sexual intercourse with the female pulled up and stopped at the agreed location in his truck, messaged the female and informed her that he was there. Pool arrived at approximately 00:10 on 5/2/17. Detectives, who was conducting surveillance on the parking lot in question pulled up and took Pool into custody without incident. Located wedged between his seat was a loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun, a quantity of Marijuana, digital scales with residue, alcohol in a cooler and Hydrocodone pill.
Pool first denied knowing anything about meeting up with a female and denied messaging a female. Pool later gave a full confession to detectives and admitted to all the messages, photographs and video's sent. Pool also admitted to being involved with illegal drug activity.
Pool was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail without incident.
