Barlow - The Lady Bombers took another tough loss to St. Mary as they played them for the second time this season. Their first contest was on August 20th, when the Lady Bombers lost by 1 goal with a final score of 4-5. This time, they ended the game with a final score of 1-4.
St. Mary’s first goal came just about 14 minutes into the game off of a PK from Ballard’s Kayto Buchanan hand ball in the box. The Lady Vikings’ were able to score a second goal 28 minutes into play when Ballard Keeper Jade Babb came out of the box and sprained her ankle while kicking the ball. The Lady Vikings took advantage of the “player down” situation and pressed the ball into the net. Marlee Reed came in as keeper for Ballard as injured Babb left the field.
St. Mary’s Haley Eck scored another goal late in the first half bringing the score to 0-3 with the Lady Vikings in the lead.
With the game remaining mostly scoreless during the second half, St. Mary scored their 4th and final goal of the evening from a lobbed long-shot into the goal. Senior Shelby Rollings answered the goal with one of her own off of an assist by senior Millicent Green shortly before the end of the game.
The Lady Bombers took on Paducah Tilghman for the second time this season on Monday night. Whereas this game was not the nail-biter as was the contest on Sept. 10th that ended in a shootout with the Tornados taking the win, the Lady Bombers did succumb to PTHS again; this time, with a 0-2 loss.
