Lady Comets accept All "A" challenge from Lady Bombers

The Carlisle County Lady Comets picked up the All "A" championship gauntlet thrown down by the Lady Bombers on Thursday, April 13.
The Lady Bombers came to bat first, with Fields, Elrod and green all getting on base but no runs came across the plate.
The Lady Comets start the inning with a walk by Martin, then a base hit by O'Daniel drives Martin home for 1-0 lead.
Both teams came away without score in their 2nd innings in the batters box, then the Lady Bombers scored a single run in the 3rd inning off a bunted base hit by Elrod and a sacrifice fly from Green.
The Lady Comets answered in the 3rd inning with a double by Owens and a bunted base hit by Martin to get two runners on base, then a base hit from Newsome sent these two runners home for a 3-1 advantage.
The Lady Bombers failed to score in the 4th inning despite a walk by Hawes and a base hit by Nichols and the Lady Comets were also kept scoreless.
The Lady Comets kept their 3-1 advantage through the 5th and 6th innings, then the Lady Bombers had their beat chance in their 7th inning in the batters box.
A base hit by Nichols turned into a tag out at 2nd base, then Taber struck out.
Base hits by Calvin and Fields got the Ballard crowd excited again but a ground ball by Elrod was scooped up and delivered to 1st base to end the game.
The Lady Comets will play in Owensboro at Jack C. Fisher Park on April 29th at 10:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. in pool play. Their first opponent will be Hancock County. If they finished in the top 2 of pool play they will advance to the Elite Eight single elimination tournament on Sunday. The admission for the games on Saturday will be $10.00 per person. That admission price covers all three games. If the girls advance to play on Sunday the admission for that day will be $5.00. Come on up to Owensboro to support our girls if you can.
