Lady Comets Meet Lady Wildcats on Basketball Court

The Carlisle County Lady Comets hosted the Trigg County Lady Wildcats on Monday, December 8.
Action was supposed to begin around 6:00 P. M. but the Trigg County bus was involved in a minor fender bender on the way to the game.

Fortunately, no one was injured and the game got going around 6:30.

Junior varsity action gets started with Stone and Brown sinking 4 points for the Lady Wildcats, while Newsome, Smith, Crider and Thompson collect 12 points for the Lady Comets.

In the 2nd and final quarter of j.v. action, the Lady Wildcats struggled mightily but were unable to bring any points to the board, while, B. Hooper, Martin, Newsome and Thompson add 14 points to give the Lady comets a 26-4 victory.

Varsity action gets going with the Lady Comets scoring 10 points from Henderson, Carrico, Morris and H. Hooper but Oliver, Mize and Martin total 12 points for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats open the 2nd quarter with Murphey and Martin sinking 5 points, then Hooper sinks a pair of free throw for Carlisle.

The Lady Wildcats add 5 points from Mize and Murphey, Hooper sinks a basket for Carlisle, then Martin, Oliver and Mize deliver 8 points for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady comets collect 7 points from Carrico, Morris, Edging and Arant before the half time buzzer sounds a 30-21 advantage for Trigg County.

Carlisle opened the 3rd quarter with a basket from Carrico, then Mize, Murphey and Oliver sank 7 points for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Comets pounced on the Lady Wildcats now, with Hooper, Morris, Edging and Carrico delivered 14 points, tying the score 37-37.

The Lady Wildcats added 4 points from Oliver and an unknown shooter but free throws by Hooper ended the quarter 41-39 in Trigg County's favor.

Carlisle opens the final quarter with Henderson and Carrico sinking 3 points, Mize scored 5 points for the Lady Wildcats, then Henderson makes a basket for Carlisle, cutting the deficit to 46-45.

The Lady Wildcats took a 53-45 advantage as Oliver and Murphey added 7 points, then Carlisle answered back with Henderson and Carrico scoring 6 points to bring the score to 53-51.

The Lady Wildcats get a pair of free throws by Mize, Hooper sinks a shot for Carlisle and time out is called with 1:06.

Trigg County adds 2 more free throws from Mize, then Carrico and Edging total 6 points, giving the Lady Comets a 59-57 advantage.

Time out is called with 23.0, then Thomas and Henderson each sink a free throw, giving the Lady Comets a 61-57 victory.
