Large turnout for first Strong Arm Bow Fishing Tournament
The first annual Youth Bow Fishing tournament was held on August 9th. It was organized by 17 year old Kenny Puckett and hosted by The Potters House Church. The turn out for first year of this event exceed the number of contestants expected.
Organizers were anticipating 50 to 60 youth to compete in the 4 different age groups for youth age 20 and below. Organizers were happy to host 91 contestants from several area counties. Kenny Puckett says next years event will likely double in size. Entry into the competition as well as a meal and entertainment by KET's Kentucky Afield host, Tim Farmer were all provided at no cost to the contestants and their families.
The Potters House Church and area businesses were instrumental in providing for the event as well as door prizes and gift bags for every contestant. The winners of the Big 5 tournament in their age groups are: Stevie Mayhugh 11 years and under, Will Hughes age 12-14, Zak Helm ages15-17, Seth Brandon age 18-20. The largest fish winner was Zak Helm and the smallest fish winner was Hunter Jackson.
