Mrs. Reba Joyce Matthews, 71, of Smithland, KY, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Christian Care Center of Kuttawa. She was a member of Mint Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Matthews of OK, Marty Matthews of Burna, KY, and John Matthews of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, LaDonna Clark of Smithland, KY; six sisters, Edna Pence, Helen Clemens, Margie Duvall, Imogene Harrison, Gail Spencer and Sue Clark; three brothers, Charles, Paul, Holmes Rainey; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie D. Matthews; one sister; and her parents, Millard and Isabell Pence Rainey. Graveside memorial services will be Saturday, April 5, 2014, 11AM at Leeper Cemetery in Tiline, KY. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem.
Wanda Lee Finch Souder, 75, of Paducah, died Friday at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa. A native of Leachville, Arkansas, Wanda was born April 23, 1938 to the late John Raymond Finch and Faye Childress Finch Newman. She retired from Western Rivers Insurance, Inc. Wanda was an avid bowler, participating in a bowling league at Cardinal Lanes for several years. She enjoyed flower gardening, dancing, sewing and painting. She is survived by four children, daughter, Patty Souder Grimm and husband Dale of Paducah; sons, Rodney Souder and wife Pam of Paducah, Ricky Souder and wife Tammy of Paducah, and Bobby Souder and wife Teri of Winder, GA; a sister, Barbara Retzer of Aurora, CO; brother, John Raymond Finch of Florence, AL; seven grandchildren, Ashley Grimm, Jessie Grimm Meiser, Jessica Souder McCoy, Heather Souder, Paige Souder, Sydney Souder and Nathan Souder; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Huebschmann, Jace McCoy, Elijah Grimm, and Ella Meiser. She was proceeded in death by her father, John Raymond Finch; mother and step-father, Faye and Jim Newman. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Sunday at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Dr. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Lester Hall, 90, of Burna, KY died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Salem Springlake Care Center in Salem, KY. Mr. Hall was a contractor and carpenter. He was a member of the US Navy during WWII and on the Underwater Demolition Team. He is survived by his wife, Mona Rae Alsobrook Hall of Burna, KY; four sons, Michael Hall of Owensboro, KY, Guy Hall of Newburgh, IN, Mark Hall of Ledbetter, KY, and David Hall of Grand Rivers, KY; one daughter, Donna Curtis of Buena Vista, CO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Truman Hall and Alma Fletcher Hall; and three brothers. Lindsey Funeral Home is handling the cremation. Per Mr. Halls wishes, there will be no funeral services.
