Leslie Ann Hargrove, 69, of Paducah passed away at 10:00 pm on Wednesday, March, 4, 2015 at her home. She retired from Paducah Tilghman High School as a teacher, she was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and she was a member of a local garden club. She is survived by her daughter Leigh Parish and her husband Dr. Kyle Parish, of Paducah; two brothers Phillip L. Walker and wife Nancy of Paducah, Ronnie H. Walker and wife Alice of Ledbetter; and two grandsons Hayes Douglas Parish, and Grayson Chandler Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd George Walker, and Grace Hayes Walker. A graveside service for Leslie is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Oakgrove Cemetery in Paducah with Rev. Joe Beal officiating. Gregory "Greg" Wayne Smith, 51, of Yankeetown, Florida, former Smithland, Kentucky, resident, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Dixie County, Florida. A memorial service will be held at The Potter's House Worship Center in Smithland on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Bro. Fred Lowrance and Dr. Bradley Henson will officiate. A private service will also be held in Yankeetown, Florida. Greg was born on December 17, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Joyce Dean (Hale) Dukes and the late Everett "Smitty" Ryman Smith Sr. Greg graduated from Livingston Central High School in 1982. Following graduation he moved to Florida and began working there as a shrimper and laborer. He is survived by his wife, Wendy, of Yankeetown, Florida; one son, Tyrell, of Yankeetown, Florida; his mother, Joyce, of Smithland, Kentucky; two brothers, Everett Ryman Smith Jr. and Jeffrey "Jeff" Todd Smith, both of Smithland, Kentucky; and two nephews, Curtis Smith, of Eddyville, Kentucky, and Duell Smith, of Kuttawa, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norman "Nubbin" and Lola "Mammie" Smith, of Tiline, Kentucky; and his maternal grandparents, Everett "Shorty" Elza and Kathleen (Guinn) Hale, of Smithland, Kentucky.
Jewell Holmes, 90, of Smithland, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Holmes was a World War II Navy veteran, lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Smithland. He is survived by his wife, Viva Condra Holmes of Smithland; one son, Ronald Homes of Deerfield, Fla.; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one sister and three brothers. His parents were Charlie Holmes and Bluet Elizabeth Cornwell. Funeral service with military honors will be Monday, March 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darvin Stom officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Ruby Rudd Gray, 103, of Danville died Monday, March 2, 2015. She was born February 21, 1912, and grew up in Smithland, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Gibson Aaron and Hattie Mae Rudd. Ruby was a Georgetown College graduate and its oldest alumni. Ruby was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Paducah. Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Jack Olive Gray; and a daughter, Carolyn Gray Hammond. Ruby is survived by her son-in-law, Dr. Ray (Cindy) Hammond of Danville; two grandsons, Captain Jason (Julie) Hammond of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Dr. Drew (Ashley) Hammond of Glasgow, Scotland; and three stepgrandchildren, Mary Beth (Alex) Griffin of Ramstein, Germany, Katie (Brad) Williams of Lexington, and Chris Corcoran of Lexington; and six great-grandchildren, Jack Hammond, Jaida and Jonah Hammond, Anna Claire and Charlie Williams and Henry Griffin. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Smithland, Kentucky Cemetery. Anna Lois Dukes, 81, of Paducah passed away at 9:30 AM Thursday, March 5, 2015 at her daughter's residence in Benton. Mrs. Dukes will always be remembered as a Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a retired Seamstress for Florsheim Shoe Factory, a member of Smithland Baptist Church. Anna had one son, Ricky Dukes (deceased); two daughters, Teresa Green and husband Lynn of Benton, Monica Dalbey and husband Matthew of Eddyville; five grandchildren, James Green, Joey Green, Gage Lamb, Garrick Lamb, Crystal Kelley; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Green; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nora (Burgher) Dodds; husband, Encil Deen Dukes; son, Ricky Dukes; three brothers; and 3 sisters.
