At 3:48 am on March 11, 2015 God called a special man to heaven. Johnnie A. Engler of Burna, KY, formerly of Evansville, IN, passed away at his home amongst family. He was born to Estel and Lovie Engler on February 16, 1928 in Union, IN. He was survived in death by his wife, Vanda Engler; sister, Louise Lovellette of Bone Gap, IL; children Alberta (John) Wright of Evansville, IN, Johnnie (Susie) Engler of San Antonio, TX, Sue (Vernon) Ellis of Evansville, IN, Nancy Tynes of Greenvalley, AZ, and James (Robin) Dickerson of Grand Rivers, KY along with 24 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pearl; brothers Brett, Don, Bill and Leroy. Johnnie was a veteran of WW II. He worked at A & H Trucking for 39 years as well as becoming President of A & H Credit Union for 20+ years. However, his proudest achievement was serving as Fire Chief of the Burna KY Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years. Services will be held at Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem, KY. Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 from 4-8pm and the funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burna Fire Department in his name.
Dorothy Mae Lanham, 70, of Paducah, KY passed away at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of Paducah. She was born in Marion, KY. Dorothy attended the Nineth Street Tabernacle services that they conducted at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Mary "Cookie" Banks and husband Morris of Ledbetter, KY; aunt, Juanita Quertermous of Paducah, KY; nieces, Dawn Couch and husband Ray of Benton, KY, Lisa Purvis and husband Ted of Paducah, KY and Kerry Avery and husband Daniel of Ledbetter, KY; 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Marshall Lanham and Cassie Eulean Radcliffe Lanham. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. O. D. Joiner officiating. Louard W. Lewis, 79, of Grand Rivers, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at home. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Corrections in Lyon County, was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Grand Rivers and was a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rachel Goins Lewis; two sons, Tommy Lewis, of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Roger Lewis, of Grand Rivers; and one grandson, Brandon Lewis, of Brentwood, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. His parents were Eugene and Louise Oliver Lewis. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Dunn's Funeral Home with the Rev. Sallie Ann Fritts, 70, of Marion died Friday, March 13, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. Mrs. Fritts was a member of Barnett Chapel Church. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Fritts of Marion; one son, Troy Fritts of Marion; one daughter, Sue Shelton of Salem; four sisters, Barbara Riley, Nora Belt, Marie Redd and Paula Marshall, all of Marion; four brothers, Charles Tinsley, Rocky Tinsley and Steve Tinsley, all of Marion, and Michael Tinsley of Vienna, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Summer Hackney of Marion and Sam Hackney of Evansville, Indiana. Her parents were Charles A. and Virginia Tinsley. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will be at Whites Chapel Cemetery. Will Ed Bushart, 78, of Marion died Monday, March 9, 2015, at Livingston County Hospital. Mr. Bushart was a member of First Christian Church of Benton, director for The Bank of Benton (CFSB), founder of The Catfish Kitchen and 20-year owner of Bushart Builders. He is survived by two sons, Mack Bushart of Winchester and Mark Bushart of Calvert City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His parents were Robert and Geraldine Bushart. Viola Katherine James age 84 of Marion, KY passed away Thursday March 12, 2015 at Crittenden Health Systems. She was a homemaker and member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church. James is survived by three sons, Randall Perry James, Jeff James and Patrick James, all of Marion, KY; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Perry James; parents, Shellie and Timmie Jones Givans; 4 sister and 3 brothers; one grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 14, 2015 at 3 PM at Myers Funeral Home, Marion, KY with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
