Lori M. Hopkins, 46, of Smithland died Friday, November 13, 2015, at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gilbertsville and was a member of the Marching Marshals Band at Marshall County High School. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hopkins; her parents, Stanley Marshall and Darlene McMillian Sanders; one daughter, Melissa Hopkins of Smithland; one son, Byron Hopkins of Smithland; and one sister, Lisa Boone of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. Services were held Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton. Jimmie Cash will officiate. Interment will be at Provine Cemetery at a later date.
Mary Elizabeth Faughn, 90, of Benton died at 7:29 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Anderson of Union City, Tennessee, and Madonna Elkins of Hardin; two sons, Robert Nash of Georgetown and David Nash of Murray; one sister, Norma Wyatt of Benton; one brother, Bob Thompson of Benton; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Lee Nash, T.C. Turley and Otho S. Faughn; two sons, Harvey Lewis Nash and Jimmie Dale Nash; three brothers; and three sisters. Her parents were Curlin Thompson and Annie Hamlet Thompson. Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Benton Cemetery. Don Wilson will officiate. There was no visitation. Kenneth Palmer, 82, of Hardin died Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Baptist Health Paducah. Mr. Palmer was retired from SKW as a chief chemist and was a member of Ferguson Spring Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Warren) Palmer; one daughter, Daphne Cope of Benton; one son, David Palmer of Benton; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. His parents were Avery Palmer and Lula (Thompson) Palmer. Services were held Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton with the Revs. James Keeling and Howard Conner officiating. Burial followed funeral services in Brewers Cemetery.
Lawrence "Poss" Barrett, 84, of Benton, KY passed away at 12:04 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Stilley House Assisted Living. He was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church and Sharpe Masonic Lodge No. 737. He retired from B.F. Goodrich. Lawrence served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by one daughter, Dana Renae Barrett Chambers of Benton, KY; two sons, Mike Barrett and wife Sonja of Calvert City, KY, and Stanley Joe Barrett of Benton, KY; six grandchildren, Rebekah Jean Woosley, Sarah Beth Nichols, Samuel Lee Barrett, Jacob Daniel Barrett, Alec Dane Shoulta and Leah Belle Barrett; nine great-grandchildren, Elana, Benjamin, Meranda, Simon, Corey, Jeremy, Serenity, Amberly and Freya; three sisters, Mildred Emerson of Calvert City, KY, Peggy Colson of Calvert City, KY, and Emma Peal of Calvert City, KY, and one brother, Roy Barrett of Calvert City, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Jessup Barrett; one sister, Louise Brandon, and two brothers, Larry Barrett and Jewell E. Barrett. His parents were Robert Barrett and Fannie Smith Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home. Pastor Patrick Gerwitz and Bro. Roger Rice will officiate and burial will follow with military rites in the Fooks Cemetery. Kelton Shane Smith, age 26, of Brookport, IL, passed away at 12:52 am on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Baptist Health Paducah. Kelton was a member of the Bay City Masonic Lodge #771 and Ledbetter United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Kelsey Smith of Brookport, IL; one daughter, Kinley Smith of Brookport, IL; one son, Easton Smith of Ledbetter, KY; mother, Lee Anne Smith of Paducah, KY; father, Joseph Shane Smith of Ledbetter, KY; maternal grandparents, Bob and Wila Smith of Brookport, IL; paternal grandmother, Brenda Lambert of Sharp, KY. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Hugh Allen Smith and Keith Lambert. Doug Armstrong, 53, of Smithland, died Friday evening, November 13th, 2015 at Lourdes Hospice Care Center in Paducah. Doug was a lifelong journeyman and worked for Premier Sprinkler Systems of Paducah. He was a member of the National Automatic Sprinkler local union #669, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Smithland. He loved spending all his spare time with his family because of the great love and affection he had for all. He is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, Brandon Joseph Armstrong and wife Alicia Renae of Reidland, and Jonathon Wayne Armstrong of Benton; and one niece, Elizabeth Armstrong of Paducah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Joe and Maddie Modean Dixon Armstrong; and one brother, Donald Leslie Armstrong. Friends may visit the family on Monday, November 16th, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 at 1pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Brother Michael Jacobs officiating. Friends may also visit on Tuesday from 11am until the funeral hour.
