Pauline Merwin Milam, 81, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Atria Assisted Living in Newburgh. She and her husband, Sam, owned and operated Wilson Office Supply and Quimby Rubber Stamps in Paducah, Kentucky. She earned her business associate's degree from Jackson Busines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Milam; her parents; and 10 siblings, Elizabeth Ebaugh (Donald), Helen Anderson (Jim), Art Merwin (Mabel), Kathryn Zirbel (Stan), and Jim Merwin, all of Clear Lake, Iowa; Jane Levisay (Jim) of Ponca, Nebraska; Doris Bowman (John) and Althea McClendon (Jim), both of Jackson, Tennessee; Ralph Merwin (Helen) of Franklin, Tennessee; and David Merwin (Judy) of Portland, Oregon. Pauline is survived by sons, Scott Milam (Donna) of Newburgh and Barry W. Milam of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Samuel and Daniel Milam; brother, Bud Merwin (Tillie) of McKenzie, Tennessee; and sisters, Sara Lyons (Eddie) of Memphis, Tennessee, Carol Mae Wilson of Jackson, Tennessee, and Ruth Hill (Dick) of Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time on Sunday, December 27th, 2015, at the funeral home. Neal Harper, 50, of Eddyville died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah. He was a tile setter for Buchanon's Floors in Eddyville and a member of Lamasco Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Paula Hunter; three sons, Matthew Harper and Tyrique Hunter, both of Eddyville, and Jonathan Harper of Princeton; four daughters, Lacey Harper Carter of Nortonville, Monique Copeland of El Paso, Texas, Shaunique Hunter of Eddyville, and Jessica Harper of Princeton; three brothers, Ronnie W. Witherspoon and Steve Witherspoon, both of Princeton, and Jeff Witherspoon; his stepfather, Ronnie N. Witherspoon of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. His parents were Richard "Chicken" Harper and Angelee Cotton Witherspoon. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James H. Bires, age 72, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, joined his loved ones in Heaven Thursday, December 17,2015, at a Nashville hospital. James and wife, Sandi moved to the Kentucky Lake area for their retirement. He was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church since 2000, where he served as previous trustee and volunteered building for the Ramp Ministry. James is survived by his wife, Sandi Bires; children, SueAnn (Dave) Mahnke, Amy (Gene) Coles, Kevin (Gloria) Sauerwein and Kerry (Ben) Leonard; brothers and sisters, Sharon (Joseph) Vislay, John (Donna) Bires, Paul (Diane) Bires and LeeAnn (James) Moline; and five grandchildren. Ernestine Riley, 89, of Calvert City, KY, passed away at 8:21 a.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015, at her home. Ernestine was a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of the Sharpe Church of Christ. She is survived by her seven daughters, Anita Christy of Franklin, TN, Connie Riley of Calvert City, KY, Karen Norris of Calvert City, KY, Peggie Ruehl of Murfreesboro, TN, Pamlea Riley of Atlanta, GA, Tresa Carter of Hendersonville, TN, and Judith Cunningham of McKenzie, TN; one sister, Betty Boyd of Raleigh, NC; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Lex G. "Pat" Riley; and fourteen siblings, Ralph Rudolph, Linnie Rudolph, Wilson Rudolph, L.C. Rudolph, Roetta Turner, Thelma Anderson, Audrey Farmer, Roman Rudolph, Prince Rudolph, J.C. Rudolph, Ewell Rudolph, Lillie Belle Castleberry, Euna Barton and Arlene Studivant. Her parents were Earnest Linn Rudolph and Betty Miller Rudolph. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the Sharpe Church of Christ. Bro. Shoney Oliver, 80, of Marion died Friday, December 18, 2015, at Crittenden County Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was a Baptist minister and a member of Marion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Dare Johnson Oliver; two sons, Samuel Lee Oliver of Columbus, Ohio, and Joseph Johnson Oliver of Crayne; one daughter, Ruth Ann Rorer of Marion; one sister, Mattie McCarty of Florida; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandchild; five brothers; and seven sisters. His parents were Laurie Coleman Oliver and Daisy Mae Prince Oliver. Services were held Monday, December 21, 2015, at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Jerry Thurman and James Nobel McKinney will officiated. Burial followed in Blue Spring Church Cemetery.
John Downs, 59, of Smithland passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah. Mr. Downs was shop foreman with Hunter Marine in Paducah. He also worked 29 years for Mid-South Towing Company in Paducah.He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two brothers, Billy Downs of Smithland and Kenneth (Daphenia) Downs of Marion; three sisters, Linda (Richard) Lasher of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Beverly (Eddie) Shaffer of Smithland, and Sherri Hopkins of Paducah; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Downs and Gladys Jean McDonald Downs of Smithland. Larry Allen "Snake" Herron, 67, of Marion died Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Crittenden Health Systems. He was a member of Marion Second Baptist Church. Mr. Herron is survived by one daughter, Tammy Erwin of Texas; two stepchildren, Greg and Serita Duvall, both of Indiana; five sisters, Donna Nation of Henderson, Sue Rzepka of Providence, and Barbara, Janice and Patricia Harris; two brothers, Michael Harris of Missouri and Ray Derrington of Morganfield; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Louise Herron, and one brother. Services were held Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, Kentucky, with interment in Mapleview Cemetery.
