Mayor Charles Burnley Announces Kevil City Annexation is finalized

Kevil – Mayor Charles Burnley informed the Kevil City Council members that as of the last day of the year, December 31, 2013, that everything is done for the Kevil City Annexation. Burnley told the Kevil City Council members that he had spoken with Rod Martin of Hunter Martin & Associates via phone earlier in the day. Per Burnley, Martin was unable to attend the meeting and Martin wanted Burnley to update the status of the annexation. This process has taken several years to complete.

The Council Members held the second reading of Ordinance 2013-7 (Kevil City Dog Ordinance). The Ordinance was passed. The Council Members discussed dogs not wearing collars or dog tags. James Campbell of Animal Control and the City of Kevil will not have any idea who the dog belongs to. This makes it more difficult to inform the pet owner that their pet has been taken to Coffee Memorial Animal Clinic and issue a citation for a violation of the City Dog Ordinance.

The next Kevil City Hall Meeting will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10 am.
