Mayor swears in new city clerk

ARLINGTON- The Arlington City Council Meeting was held on Monday September 9.
Those attending were Mayor Bobby McGee, City Clerk Ayna Dixon, Former City Clerk Anita Lambert, Commissioners Paul Gaddie, LH Tyler, Hayli Burgess, Jimmy Williams, City Employee John Lemons, Visitors included PADD Rep. Marcel Purcell, Chris Woods with the Weekly and Lilly Morefield with The Carlisle County News.
Mayor McGee called the meeting to order at 5pm and swore in Ayna Dixon as the City Clerk. Dixon has been working as assistant clerk along with Anita Lambert for several months. Lambert has served as city clerk for 30 years and recently retired.
Following the pledge of allegiance a motion was made by Gaddie and 2nd by Williams to and approved last month’s minutes was carried.
After questions from McGee the Treasure Report was approved.
A motion made by Burgess and 2nd by Tyler was carried to approve the City Bills
During the Cemetery Report Gaddie stated there is nothing new with the cemetery.
During Fire Dept. Report: Lemons stated the fire department members will have a meeting each 1st Monday of each month.
Daily Operation; Mayor McGee stated there is nothing new to report around the city.
During New Business; Burgess stated events have been planned for the annual Apple Fest. She stated that more than 20 craft, and food vendors have reserved spaces, and there will also be yard sale vendors, activities for the event include cornhole, a Miss Apple Fest Pageant, face paintings, children maze, and slide, and there will be a variety of entertainment during the day, featured band Those Guys during the evening.
New Business included a motion by Burgess with a 2nd by Gaddie to have the 2nd reading of the business license was carried.
An air compressor for the fire truck was discussed; Gaddie stated he would check on the prices for the air compressor.
A motion was made by Burgess was carried to adjourned the meeting was carried.
