Danny Brown

CUNNINGHAM, Ky. — Danny Brown, 59, of Cunningham passed away at 7:05 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at his home. Mr. Brown was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, former member, ordained deacon, and choir director of Hawesville Baptist Church, and former member, deacon, and choir director of Dawson Springs Baptist Church. He served his country for thirteen years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Brown served as a teacher, assistant principal, and assistant superintendent at Hancock County Schools for eighteen and a half years, superintendent at Dawson Springs Independent Schools for nine years, superintendent at Berkshire Hills School District in Stockbridge, MA for three years, and superintendent at Carlisle County School System for five years. He was a member of KASA, KRT, KSBA, KASS, and a former Highly Skilled Educator. He is survived by his wife, Bonita Stewart Brown; one daughter, Jennifer, and Brad Howton, of Lewisport, KY; three sisters, Judy Crowley of Newburgh, IN, Becky Wood of Flint, MI, and Donna Dooley of Owensboro, KY; one brother, Gary Brown of Owensboro, KY; two grandchildren, Brendon Howton and Ashton Howton of Lewisport, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. and Lena Mae McDaniel Brown. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. David Hardy and Jeff Winfrey officiating. There will be an additional visitation from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the Pellville Baptist Church in Hancock County with graveside services to follow in the Pellville Cemetery. Annie Pehm

BARDWELL, Ky. — Annie Elizabeth Pehm, 57, of Bardwell died at 4:47 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Lourdes hospital. Arrangements were incomplete at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.


Jacqueline Somerfield

HICKMAN, Ky. — Jacqueline “Jackie” Somerfield, 71, of Hickman died Monday,March 9, 2009, at the home of her son Jim Somerfield in Hickman. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hickman. Mrs. Somerfield is survived by two sons, Jim and Jon Somerfield, both of Hickman; two daughters, Georgia Phipps of Union City, Tenn., and Lynn Goree of Hickman; one sister, Dorothy Cooley of Hickman; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Somerfield; three brothers; and one sister. Her parents were Jammie and Floye Cooper Turner. Services were held Wednesday at Strong Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Southerland officiating. Burial followed in Hickman City Cemetery.


Barbra Burgess

CUNNINGHAM, Ky. — Barbra Kay Burgess, 57, of Cunningham died at 9:57 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Lourdes hospital. Mrs. Burgess was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, James L. Burgess; her mother, Mageline Harper Caughlin of Cunningham; one daughter, Tammy S. Jones of Cunningham; one son, James C. Burgess of Cunningham; one sister, Deborah St. Arbor of Arlington; two brothers, Billy Caughlin and Timmy Caughlin, both of Cunningham; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Caughlin. Gravesides services were Held March 7, 2009, at Cunningham Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ricky Yarbrough officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Shiloh Baptist Church, 1870 County Road 1129, Arlington, KY 42023.


Eleanor Pique

FULTON, Ky. — Eleanor Wilson Pique, 96, of Fulton died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Haws Memorial Nursing Home in Fulton. Mrs. Pique was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fulton and the former owner and operator of Eleanor’s Beauty Shop in Fulton. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Outland of Goodyear, Ariz., and Carole Pique Roper of Midlothian, Va.; one son, Roger Pique of Fulton; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Pique, and two brothers. Her parents were Robert and Elsie Rossini. Services were held on Monday, March 9th, at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlea Cemetery


Alberta Simmons

CLINTON, Ky. — Alberta Simmons, 90, of Clinton died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Clinton-Hickman County ICF Nursing Home. Arrangements were incomplete at Brown Funeral Home in Clinton.


L.C. Browning

HICKMAN, Ky. — Services for L.C. Browning, 56, of Hickman were held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Hickman with the Rev. James Roberson officiating. Burial will be at Hickman City Cemetery. Mr. Browning died Tuesday at his home. He had worked at the Morning Star Nursery in Union City, Tenn., and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his mother, Julia Browning of Hickman; one son, Marcus Cole of Hickman; three brothers, Alvin Browning, Ollie B. Browning and Wardell Browning, all of Hickman; and two sisters, Rosie Lee Hall and Julia Mae Mackins, both of Hickman. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Browning; two brothers; and one sister.


Thomas Earl Greer

SOUTH FULTON, Tenn. — Thomas Earl Greer, 77, of South Fulton died at 8:51 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Parkway Regional Hospital. Mr. Greer was a member of the Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from A. Huddleston Electrical and Hardware Store where he worked for 42 years. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Martin Greer; four sons, Tommy Greer of Martin and Jimmy Greer, Brent Greer and Kent Greer, all of South Fulton; one brother, J.P. Greer of Fulton, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Edna Greer; three sisters; and four brothers. His parents were Carnell Dublin Greer and Jewell I. Greer. Services were held Friday, March 6 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial will be at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Memorial Fund of the Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 159 Parker Road, South Fulton, TN 38257.


Mildred Irvan

FULTON, Ky. — Mildred Irvan, 91, of Fulton died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Parkway Regional Hospital. Mrs. Irvan was a homemaker and a member of the First Apostolic Church in Union City, Tenn. She is survived by three nieces and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Irvan, and one sister. Her parents were Ocie P. Yaters and Irene Ridgeway Yates. Services were held on Saturday, Marc 7th at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens.
