Rotary Club of Paducah’s Annual Speech Contest winners
Zachary Story, Paducah Tilghman junior and son of Dr. Stephen and Karen Story of Paducah, took top honors in the Rotary Club of Paducah’s Annual Speech Contest held on February 26, 2014 at the McCracken County Public Library. Fellow Paducah Tilghman students Meg Hancock, daughter of Justin and Sid Hancock, and Cade Perfili, son of Laura Perfili and Chad Fry, took second and third place respectively.
Students prepared speeches on a topic selected by Rotary International’s President Ron Burton. Students were to prepare speeches on how they can influence the world around them by “Engage Rotary, Change Lives.” President Burton said, “We have learned that as a group we can move mountains, we can change people’s lives for the better, and we can honestly make a difference in our world.”
Zachary will advance to the next of the three levels of competition where he will compete against club winners from other clubs in western Kentucky. The District winner of Rotary District 6710 will receive $2200 in total prize money.
