Never put your security in something you can lose
by Teresa LeNeave
We can lose a lot of things in life, but one thing you won't lose is God's love. You can be disappointed in a lot of people: family, friends, and even ourself ... but God will never walk out on you. The thing that most people lose, without paying much attention to it, is time.
The time God has given us is so valuable. When it's gone, you can NEVER get it back. When you lose time, it's gone forever. Not even one wasted minute can be retrieved. You may be saying, "It doesn't matter to me. My life is boring; Its not worth living". Jesus said your life is worth living. Jesus said, "I came that you might have life and have it MORE ABUNDANTLY". He came to give YOU life! What a wonderful hope!
Some people just want to exist; to get from birth to death so it can be over. Jesus never intended life to be lived that way.
During Jesus' ministry he was always bringing life. He fed the hungry. Healed the sick. Calmed the fears and promised, "I will give you rest". He said, "If you believe on me, you'll live forever." Satan, on the other hand, is always focused on your death and destruction. Jesus told us, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" - John 10:10 NASB. Satan is not going to do anything, but harm you. The sad thing is that so many eyes are blinded but Satan's deception, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Joshua said, "Choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in which land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15
How can we value the time, and life, God has given us? It starts in your mind; in how you see life. King a David had a lot of bad things happen to him, but he chose to believe God loved him anyway. In the Psalm 23, David said, "THE LORD is my shepherd. I shall not want". If we only could grasp just that one truth, how different life would be. David said, "I look to God for my daily need." David knew no one else could meet his needs. Only God can meet all your needs. David's security was in someone who could not fail.
I once heard a preacher say, "Never put your security in things you can lose". That is so true. We can lose our husband or wife. We can lose our job and even our children. We can lose our money or our friends, but you cannot lose God. The Bible says, he will never leave you or forsake you. Paul said, "Not life or death or principality or powers, or anything in heaven or earth can separate you from the love of God".
Nothing can separate you from God's love. That's worth living for. That's worth valuing the minutes, hours and days of your life. Even if you don't like where you are in life at this moment, begin to think about the precious time you've been given; think about what you've wasted; think about what's been stolen ... Think about what little you have left. And, then decide enough has been lost. Turn things around starting today and then your tomorrows will be better.
