Not all tools are good tools

By Teresa LeNeave

God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on him; because he (that's you) trusted in God. Trust in the Lord forever; for the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Imagine satan with a tool shed. Inside the shed are tools of every kind hanging on the wall filling big, red, metal tool chests, and even hand held tool boxes. All the walls, boxes and chests are filled with tools that he has accumulated over the centuries. He has learned which tools work best in every situation to discourage and halt progress in the person who has decided to believe in the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

All satan's tools have names. Names like intimidation, loneliness, nervousness, laziness, hate, indifference, rage, confusion, obsessions, discontentment, fatigue, rejection, shame, loose morals, jealousy, drunkenness, lust and even defensiveness.

All these, and many, many more serve to side-track a born-again Christ-follower. That's satan's objective; to side-track; to slow down; to destroy your faith in God. These are all in Satan's arsenal of tools that he uses to steal, kill and destroy.

Emotional disturbances, like intimidation and nervousness, are a direct confrontation against the peace God wants for you. For myself, it's when I forget that the LORD JEHOVAH is my everlasting strength that I feel intimidated or nervous. Jesus says, "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me"(John 14:1). The fact is, satan uses intimidation and nervousness as a tool against us, but it stems from a lack of our trust and faith in the everlasting strength and power of God.

Feeling nervous? Anxious? Fearful? "In everything, through prayer and supplication (sincere asking) ... with thanksgiving, .... let your request be made known unto God" (Philipians 4:6-7).

Let Him know your need, your requests, then trust Him to take over the situation. "... And the peace of God, which passes ALL understanding, will KEEP your heart and mind, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

You've always heard, "Knowledge is power". It absolutely is in the battle for your mind. Be aware of the tools satan uses. Where do you feel weak? Just know, satan will use our weaknesses against us every time he can. What's in his tool box that he can use against you? Through the Word of God, be an overcomer.
