The Bargain of All Time

By Teresa LeNeave

For all the bargain shoppers out there you know what I mean when I talk about the high you get when you get the best deal. When you get something for half it's value you're pretty excited.

Well, God knows something about bargains, too, and he offers us a bargain that should be hard to turn down. In scripture, God said, "I set before you two ways ... Choose life, that you AND YOUR SEED, may live."

Did they ALL choose life? ... No, they did not, and they paid the price, not only in their lives, but in the lives of generations going forward.

His words are LIFE to all those who FIND them and medicine to their flesh. But, the big question is this: Can you hear the Word and it not change you? Yes, you can. IT CAN BOUNCE RIGHT OFF YOUR EARDRUMS. We have proof of that in the parable of the sower where Jesus described hearers of the Word and only 1/4 of the hearers were producers. Three-fourths of the people either made some change, but never stayed in long enough to get a solid foundation or they made no change at all.

That's how two people can hear the same message in church; one leave changed, and the other leave bored to death.

The bargain, "choose life that YOU AND YOUR SEED (YOUR CHILDREN) may live" is virtually ignored by the masses of the people.

Matthew 7:7 says to ask, seek and knock. Most people have no trouble asking, but seeking takes work ... Sometimes too much so they just drop out of the race. If you want to find something, you need to SEEK for it.

Heb 11:6 says there are two things you HAVE TO BELIEVE in order to even come to God:

1. For he that comes to God MUST believe He IS.

2. And, you MUST believe He is a REWARDER of them that DILIGENTLY SEEK him. Does that say he's a REWARDER of everybody? A rewarder of the one who floats through life like a dead fish floating wherever the waves take him?

No, he said, to please God you do some seeking. If you believe it's there, you'll DILIGENTLY look for it. Diligent means a constant effort to accomplish something. Persistent in doing something. Pursued with PERSERVING attention. Sounds like seeking doesn't it?

To get the bargain of your life, you can't play with this. You must mean business.

THINGS THAT HINDER SEEKING

1. Some people either don't seek, or they seek half-heartedly. They give up and don't continue to seek.

2. Others ask and JUST WAIT FOR IT TO FALL ON THEM. They wait and wait and wait. Seeking is where work, and intense desire for something, comes in.

3. Others are not even willing to seek ... They know what the Scripture says, but they are not willing to do seek.

Luke 15:8 Talks about seeking a lost coin. "What woman loses one coin, does not light a candle, sweeps the house and SEEKS DILIGENTLY UNTIL SHE FINDS IT." And, when she finds it, she called everybody she knows and tells them she's found the piece she lost. Apparently, she called and asked them to look, too! She was diligent. She put forth every effort.

AMOS 5:4

"Thus says The Lord to the house of Israel, seek me and YOU SHALL LIVE."

VS 5 ... Seek not Bethel, they will come to naught.

VS 6 ... Seek The Lord and you shall live.

VS 8 ... Seek him that makes the sun, stars, and turns the shadow of death into the morning.

Seek. You get out the broom, you sweep behind every door, open every drawer, look behind the curtains and in the corners. You looking for the bargain of all time. You're determined to find God's promises to you and your seed after you.

Ask for further light in every area of your life. Ask for strength AND A HEART to be willing to seek and find. Choose life that you and your seed will live.
