  • The Arlington City Ball Park was the place to be on Saturday, July 5, as 5 men’s softball teams came together from near and far for a day of fun on the softball field ( and let us not forget the coveted t - shirts.)
Game number 1 was played by the teams designated as Gang and Jared.
This game went the entire 7 innings, with both teams putting up a heavy defense and offense but team Jared came away the winner with a 12-10 victory.
Game number 2 had the 51 South Barbershop team going up against team Tad.
This contest was also a close match up, with both teams hitting the field in earnest but the 51 South Barbershoppers win this game 20-14.
The third game of the day was played by team Sera and the winner of game 1, Jared.
The final score of this game says it all when it comes right down to how exciting this came must have been.
When all was said and done, team Sera came out the winner with the score of 7-5.
The next contest was between teams Gang and Tad.
This game was a win or go home situation for both these teams and they both went into this match with their eyes wide open.
When the final bat was swung and the final out was made, team Tad came out the final victor 14-11.
Game number 5 was between the 2 heavyweights of this tournament, 51 South Barbershop and Sera.
These two teams have collided several times in the past, with each meeting being a pretty close match, with a few exceptions.
This game was no exception however, as both teams clobbered the balls to the field in bristle fashion.
As anticipated, this game went for 7 innings and after a hard fought battle, the 51 South Barbershop team won 21-19.
Game 6 was between team Jared and Tad and this match was just as heated as the previous game.
Both teams came into this game with a victory under their belt and were anxious to move on to the next level of play.
Action in this game was heavy with hitting, fielding and defense and you really hated to see either team come away on the losing side.
However, one team had to win and that team was Jared with the score of 12-9.
The next to last game matched up team Jared with team Sera to decide the player in the Championship game with 51 South Barbershop.
This game was a close contest for a while with both teams putting up their best defense and offense.
As the game wore on, exhaustion seemed to be taking it’s toll on team Jared but they refused to give up even as team Sera plastered the field for a 21-9 victory.
The final game of the day was played by the friendly rivals of team Sera and 51 South Barbershop.
Team Sera had to win this game to have any chance at the Championship while the 51 South Barbershop team merely had to hold them off to come away with an undefeated record in the tournament.
Both teams were up to the challenge, standing firm and unyielding as the game came closer to it’s inevitable conclusion.
This clash of titans went on for what seemed like forever but when the final call was made, 51 South Barbershop was the final victor 22- 16.
