Despite their defensive efforts, the Bombers lost their first game of the season to the Vikings on August 20th.  St. Mary’s Ross Whittaker earned a hat trick by scoring all three of the goals that took the Vikings to the 3-0 win over Ballard Memorial. Ian LaBarge, Aaron Woodley, and Brett Quigley each made assists for St. Mary.

Ballard’s Clayton Walker (senior, forward) took a shot on goal, but the ball sailed up and over the goal.  Devin Griffin ((senior, forward) also  went for a goal with an attempt at chesting the ball in, but the Vking’s goal keeper pushed it clear of the goal.

With approximately seventeen minutes left in the game, the contest was called on account of inadequate light.

At Mayfield on August 22nd, Ballard Memorial scored first but Mayfield responded with four unanswered goals to rout the Bombers 4-1 in Thursday’s an All-A Classic boys soccer match.


Four different Cardinals scored goals and two goalkeepers split two saves.

Second half — M-Dane Coles, M-Noel Roman.
