Paducah - Meeting up for the second time this season with St. Mary at a First District game, the Bombers went in hoping to make up for their loss in the teams’ first contest but found the second time around is not necessarily the charm as they lost to the Vikings again on September 26th.

After losing to St. Mary 0-3 back on August 20th, the Bombers rallied for a win; this time on Viking ground.  Unfortunately, Ballard Memorial went away with a 1-6 loss to St. Mary.

The first half saw several shots from the corner by Senior Forward Clayton Walker, but his shots either went wide or St. Mary’s keeper Jacob Lange kept the ball from going in the net. Within the last minutes of the first half, Walker took at free kick, but it soared over the cross bar.  Junior Midfielder Austin Walters and Senior Forward Devin Griffin used skillful passing to maneuver the ball up the field, but they were unable to finish.

Vikings Ian La Barge, Ross Whittaker and Dylan Clark all scored for St. Mary in the first half bringing the score to 0-3.

Clayton Walker came in with a vengeance in the second half as he took advantage of an open goal and scored within the first 3 minutes of play.  As in the first half, Walker continued his onslaught of shots on goal from the corner, but was unable to bring one home for the Bombers.  A free kick off of Senior midfielder Daniel Brunston being tripped brought Walker another chance, but St. Mary’s keeper caught it.

Ross Whittaker, Paul West, and Andre Muniz scored one goal each for the Vikings bringing the final score to 1-6 with St. Mary taking the win.

The Bombers took on Paducah Tilghman for the second time of the season on Monday.  Although the Bombers did take a second loss to the Tornados, this game certainly was not the same game as the one played on Sept. 10th where Paducah Tilghman started the game with a goal within the first 5 minutes of play.

The first half of this contest saw neither team scoring during the first 26 minutes of play.  The Tornados’ Noe Ramirez brought  PTHS’ first goal after his team had taken 7 shots on goal, which were too wide, too high, or caught by Ballard Keeper Josh Moss.  The Tornados’ Cason Waldon and Miles Butler followed this with one goal each, bringing the score at the half to 0-3 with PTHS in the lead.

The second half saw Trae Hampton scoring for the Tornados within the first 5 minutes of play, followed by Jacob Holtgrewe scoring another goal for the Tornados with 30 minutes on the clock.   The next 20 minutes saw neither team scoring followed by another PTHS goal, On the heels of that goal, were two more goals scored by the Tornados and another made by PTHS’ Will Smith off of a PK with just 3 minutes left in the game.  The final score was 0-8 with PTHS taking the win.
