Gage Emanuel Buri, 11 years old, of Paducah, KY, earned his angel wings Saturday, August 17, 2013, at his loving home surrounded by his mother, grandparents & aunt. After a 10-year brave and fierce battle with a JPA brain tumor including 6 chemo regimens, proton radiation in Houston, TX, attempted surgeries, alternative remedies, 2 strokes recently, he ultimately succumbed to another basal ganglia stroke. He was born to Karlee J. Buri of Paducah, KY, on July 24, 2002.Gage is survived by his mother, Karlee Buri; his grandparents, Jack & Terri Buri; his aunt, Kathy Buri; uncle, Paul Buri and wife Kelly; his great aunts, Nancy Vermillion of Annapolis, Kathy Wolff (Fred) of Chicago, Barb Buri of Florida; his great uncle, Joseph Buri Sr. of Iowa; his great grandmother, Janie Hicks of Maryland; his cousins, Jadyn Buri, Jack Buri and Bradley Buri. Gage is also survived by numerous 2nd & 3rd cousins and many local friends. A celebration of Life for Gage will be held at , at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1126 Harrison Street, Paducah KY 42001 with Barbara Burrage and Dr. Greg Ross officiating. Gerald G. “Hammer” Sills, 59, of Paducah died at 1:53 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Lourdes hospital. He was a self-employed concrete finisher and a member of American Legion Post 31 of Paducah, Southside Eagles 3135 of Paducah and Southland Baptist Temple of Paducah. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Sills of Paducah; and one sister, Sandra (Sills) Ocheltree of Paducah. He was preceded in death by his father, William Glenn Sills. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah. Blanche Ella Peeler, 89, of Paducah died Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at her home. She retired from Michigan and Ohio Bell Telephone. She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Richards of West Paducah and Janice Burton of West Virginia; two brothers, Vernon Dillon of Michigan and Delbert Dillon of Florida; one sister, Hazel Messer of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, and six sisters. Her parents were George Dillon and Elizabeth Helton Dillon. Gertie Mae Anderson, 98, of Paducah died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.
Gertie Mae was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and a native of the Dogwood community in Graves County. She retired from Claussner’s Hosiery Company, where she worked as an examiner. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ann Hammons of Lone Oak, Ky.; two sons, Paul E. Anderson and wife Jean of Lone Oak, Ky., and Jerry Anderson and wife Sherry of Paducah, Ky.; five grandchildren, Barry Hammons, Mark Hammons and wife Pam, Steven Anderson, David Anderson and Heather Traylor and husband Mark; five great-grandchildren, Marcy Binkley and husband Brennon, Ellen Hammons Featherstone and husband Sam, Grant Hammons, Eric Anderson and Hibbs Traylor; one great-great-grandchild, Hudson Featherstone; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death were her husband, Paul B. Anderson; parents, W.T. Wilkins and Lula Kunkle Wilkins; one son, Charles Anderson; son-in-law, Harold Hammons; and three sisters and six brothers. Joyce Kay Johnson, 67, of Cadiz died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. Bernice Dunigan, 93, of Benton, died at 4:25 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of Briensburg Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Tony Heath Dunigan of Benton; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dilmer Stone Dunigan; one sister; and two brothers. Her parents were Reed Murray Heath and Milby Mae Malcom Heath.

William Ralph Evans, 97, of Murray died at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Spring Creek Health Care. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the Kentucky Highway Department and was a farmer. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Nell (Rowland) Evans; four daughters, Marita Burkeen of Tiptonville, Tenn., Connie Wilson of Paris, Tenn., Suzanne Sewell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Suzette Tidrick of Quaker City, Ohio; one son, Gary Evans of Almo; one sister, Louise Carroll of Murray; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter. His parents were William H. & Annie Eula (Compton) Evans.
