Charles Clifton “Cliff” Thomasson, 92 of Paducah, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Lourdes Hospital. Mr. Thomasson was a member of St. Thomas More Church, serving as a church usher for many years. He retired from the A&P Tea Company as a butcher, meat department manager and later store manager.  He also retired from the city of Paducah as Alcohol and Beverage Control officer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Southwest Pacific in the China, Burma, India Theater. Mr. Thomasson played on the 1938 State Championship Basketball team from Sharp High School.  He played baseball in the late 1940’s on the Twin State Baseball League and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Thomasson is survived by two sons, Larry Thomasson and wife Linda of Cadiz, KY, and David Thomasson and wife Ruthie of Calvert City, KY;  seven grandchildren, Drew Thomasson and wife Jennifer, Cara Arnold and husband Jon, Kyle Thomasson and wife Lisa, Ethan Thomasson, Eric Thomasson, Nathan Lemons and wife Holly, and Matthew Newberry and wife Kimberly; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Bolger Thomasson; three sisters, Edith Barnes, Mary Clay Thomasson, and Avis Brooks; and three brothers, Frank Thomasson, Ernest Thomasson, and James Thomasson. His parents were Ed and Rebecca Binkley Thomasson. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father J. Patrick Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kenneth R Myers, age, 78, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 3:48 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah. Kenneth was born September 6, 1935 in Marion, KY to the late William Louis Myers & Hazel May Hayes Myers.  He retired from Western Baptist Hospital where he worked in the maintenance department.  Kenneth was a veteran of U.S. Navy and got to see all three of his sons serve in the U.S. Navy.  His son,  Donald passed away while serving during Desert Storm.  Kenneth loved to bowl, feed and watch the hummingbirds, and feeding raccoons.  He and his late wife Joanne Kathryn Myers, who  died in May of this year were married for fifty-six years. Kenneth is survived by two sons,  Michael Myers  and wife, Missy of Marion, KY, John Myers and wife, Beth of Lone Oak, KY; one sister, Hazel Lee Ford of Portage, IN; three brothers Delmar Myers of Portage, IN, Wayne Myers of Sullivan, KY and J.D. Myers of Marion, KY; four grandchildren,  Emily and Kaitlyn Myers of Marion, KY, Chip and Luke Myers of Lone Oak, KY, several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was his wife, Joanne Myers;  one son, Donald Myers; parents, William Louis & Hazel Myers; one sister, Jean Aguilera and one brother, William Myers. Services will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Beverly A. Golling, 75 of Paducah, KY passed away at 4:52 pm Saturday, October 19, 2013 at her residence.  She was a native of Bloomfield Hills, MI. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She is survived by her two daughters, Christie (Preston) Snelling of Paducah and Teri Oden of West Columbia, SC; one sister, Alberta (Jerry) Williams of Warren, MI; one brother, Dennis (Kathy) Bubar of Ft. Myers, FL and two grandchildren, Alex Miezio & William Oden. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. William Golling II and her parents, Harlan & Nettie Bubar. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist in Hazel Park, MI.  Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, MI. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of local arrangements.

Edward Wyatt Mathis, 74, of Melber, KY passed away at 8:35 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital. He is survived by his mother, Clarice Mathis of Paducah, KY; sisters, Carolyn Obermark, Harriett Thuesen and LaDonna Bailey; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Melber Civic Center in Melber, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Owens Chapel Cemetery, c/o Jimmy Mathis, 2951 State Route 2192, Boaz, KY 42027. Milner & Orr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Dameron, 96, of Marion, KY, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Livingston Hospital and Healthcare Services in Salem. Mrs. Dameron was a member of Repton Baptist Church, and a Co-Owner of Dameron’s BBQ in Marion. She is survived by one brother, Corbitt Lynn of Washington State; one daughter in law, Doris Dameron of Marion, KY; four grandchildren, Ann Allcock of Marion, KY, Kim Arnett of Murray, KY, Kelley Suchman of Alabama, Vicki Dameron of Lexington, KY; seven great grandchildren; and three special caretakers, Iva Day, Sharon Winters, and Deanie Tabor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan T. Dameron; two sons, Keith and Paul Dameron; one sister, Doris Schnell; three brothers, Frank, Mickey, and Reggie Lynn; and her parents, Ersel and Gertrude Franklin Lynn. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 1PM, at Union Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Gideons International, PO Box 304, Salem, KY  42078. Condolences may be left online at boydfuneraldirectors.com.

Helen Lavonda (Summers) Woolbright, 68,  passed away Sunday October 20 at her residence in Barlow. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Gotts of LaCenter; a brother, Mel Lemons of Paducah; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Dean Counts; her parents, Roy and Eula (Lemons) Summers; her husband, Junior Woolbright;and three brothers. Graveside services will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery, Thursday, October 24 at 11:00 AM.  There will be no visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Joretta “Jodi” Whitten, 82 of Decatur, AL and formerly of Paducah, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton in Moulton, AL. Mrs. Whitten was a member of Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a Registered Nurse and previously worked for the Riverside Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth D. Whitten; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by two sons, Greg Allen Cooper and David Lee Cooper; and one brother, Elmer A. Gregory. Her parents were Elmer and Donye B. Smith Gregory. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with her husband Kenneth D. Whitten officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Funeral services for Glenda Kay Dye, age 75, of Paducah, will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Paul Wingfield and Larry Harris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery. She died at 9:55 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital. A graduate of Draughn’s Business College, she had worked as a secretary for the Marshall County Extension Office, and for the Naval Office at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.  She was a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ. A past president of the Concord Homemakers, she was also a past president of T.O.P.S. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Raymond H. Dye, her son, Terry R. Dye, of Melber, her step-daughter, Linda D. Lindley, of Paducah, her sister, Sue Sutton, of Paducah, and her brother, David R. Hancock, of Chapel Hill, TN. Additional survivors include one grandson, one great-grandson, two step-grandsons,  and one step-great-granddaughter. Preceding her in death were her parents, James W. and Etrie W. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Mr. Allen Bland, 52, of Paducah, formally of Savannah, GA, passed away Sunday October 20, 2013 at his home. Mr. Bland was a U.S. Army Veteran, fire fighter and first responder with Reidland Farley volunteer fire department. Survivors include one daughter, Desiree Harned (Drew) of Louisville; one son, Brandon Bland of Paducah; his Father, Bob Bland of West Paducah; one sister, Regina Oller of West Paducah, and four grandchildren. Mr. Bland was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Gail Gilliland Bland; and his mother, Kathryn Bland.There will be a private family memorial service at a later date, with Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Earl Lane, 69, of Paducah, KY passed away at 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Lane was a graduate of Crittenden County High School and Murray State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 till 1971. Mr. Lane was ever the teacher, always educating with everyone he encountered. Following this, he spent most of his working career at Heath High School where he began as a biology teacher in 1972. In 1978 he became Assistant Principal and Principal in 1985. Throughout his tenure at Heath he used his passion to guide the faculty and students and make Heath one of the most successful schools in the State all the while developing and shaping many young men and women to be successful parents, community leaders, and professionals. After leaving Heath in 1992, he served as Director of Transportation, Buildings and Grounds for McCracken County School’s until retiring in 1995. After his retirement and true to his form, he could not “stay retired” and went back to teaching science part time at Heath Middle School then at Community Christian Academy. In the mid 1980’s Mr. Lane became involved in the Boy Scouts of America when his son, Sean, started in Cub Scouts. As Sean advanced through Scouts, so did Tom. Tom held several leadership positions within Troop 4 and the District and stayed active even after his son had moved on. In many ways, the Boy Scouts was Tom’s second career and allowed him to live out his passion for teaching after retirement. Once he retired he began to increase his involvement with the Boy scouts and continued to mentor and develop boys, transforming them in honorable young men. As well as the Boy Scouts, Mr. Lane became involved in the Concord Lions Club sponsor organization for Troop 4 after retirement and held various leadership positions. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and the Grahamville Masonic Lodge #707 F&AM. Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen and Earl Lane formerly of Marion, KY. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Stigall Lane and children, April Lane Dunn (Tom), Sean Lane (Heather) and Kristi Lane Rehrauer(Scott) and “adopted” daughter Rebecca Williams Arnold. He is survived by a tribe of grandchildren; Sam Dunn, Mattie Dunn, Evan Rehrauer, Anna Lane, Nate Lane, Mary Rehrauer, Cecilia Lane, Hagan Lane and Henry Lane. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jewell Barrett and Rev. Andy Shelton officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Freedom Cemetery in Marion, KY. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah where Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers and in tribute to Tom’s dedication to the Boy Scouts, the family asks that a donation be made to the Thomas E.
